The former director of the US Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has been appointed as an advisor to the company's leadership team
SentinelOne, a provider of an automated cybersecurity platform, announced that Christopher Krebs has joined the company's leadership team as a new advisor. Krebs, who most recently served as director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), joins SentinelOne to help protect federal, national and enterprise organizations against ransomware and ever-evolving threats.
"Today's ransomware attacks affect nearly every aspect of our daily lives: every industry, geographic region and business area is at risk. Every week we discover devastating new attacks that combine extortion, data theft and disruption of our business operations," he said. Nicholas Warner, COO at SentinelOne. "There are few people other than Chris Krebs who have more experience in the battle against ransomware within the public and private sectors. We are proud to have him on our steering committee."
Krebs' experience and vision will allow SentinelOne to continue to innovate its solutions. Krebs comes to SentinelOne after a long career spent leading cybersecurity programs at major public and private organizations. Before joining CISA as director, Krebs also held other roles at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and at Microsoft.
“The proactive and innovative approach, introduced by SentinelOne, takes on a fundamental role for public bodies and businesses,” he said Krebs. "Traditional, human-driven solutions are struggling to keep pace with today's increasingly automated threats. Within this challenging landscape, organizations across industries should adopt solutions that can outpace hackers with automated prevention, detection and response. Joining SentinelOne's Advisory Board will allow me to continue helping organizations defend against current threats, making them more resilient and anticipating future risks."
Today, cybercriminals target their attacks against a large number of public and private entities, favoring ransomware as a vector. Analyzing the countless attacks involving the Colonial Pipeline, JBS Foods, hospitals, and state and local government offices, it appears that cybercriminals can compromise any organization. Additionally, first-generation AI tools struggle to manage the volume, variety and velocity of data they need to analyze to prevent breaches. SentinelOne's AI-powered technology aims to continuously, proactively and autonomously protect and remediate the most advanced threats.
