The operating systems and agents of the Trentino company do not use the Java-based library. Released useful updates to increase the security of ThinMan and ThinMan Gateway.
Praim, a global company that develops software solutions for the creation and management of advanced workstations and Thin & Zero Client hardware solutions, which has always been committed to integrating the best solutions available into its products, announces that none of its software products and Thin Clients are affected by Log4j vulnerabilities.
In recent days, some vulnerabilities have been identified in Java-based systems, caused by a lack of protection in the Log4j libraries, which particularly affect Java 8 (and subsequent) releases and some Java 7 releases. This problem can, consequently, affect both Windows and Linux systems.
Praim operating systems and agents are safe and unhackable as they do not use the Log4j library. You can then continue to safely use your Praim ThinOX or Praim Agile-based systems (regardless of whether you use Agile4PC, Agile4Pi or Agile4Linux), without the need for any intervention.
New releases of ThinMan and ThinMan Gateway were also made immediately available (8.4.1 and 2.3.3 respectively), which include Apache patch 2.15.0 to resolve the first and main Log4j vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228). This allows you to protect your instances by downloading these new versions from the MyPraim area and updating your systems.
The second vulnerability (CVE-2021-45046) of Log4j does not concern ThinMan, however the 2.16.0 update released by Apache will still be integrated into the next versions of the Praim software (ThinMan 8.4.2 and ThinMan Gateway 2.3.4 respectively).
“Having safety as a priority, it is important for Praim to underline the reliability of its systems even in this global emergency – he explains Jacopo Bruni, Marketing Manager di Praim. – It is a source of pride for us to be able to guarantee those who rely on our solutions protection even from the most insidious attacks, such as the one we are experiencing in recent days."
