CISO expert, he will be the board's trusted advisor to enterprise customers
Vectra AI, a leading provider of cyber threat detection and remediation, announced the appointment of Steve Cottrell as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) EMEA. Cottrell will work to strengthen relationships with customers and prospects, the security community, government and intelligence agencies to identify key security pain points, while supporting the evolution of security strategies to support digital transformation and cloud adoption.
Cottrell will also be responsible for helping security decision makers communicate the value of AI-driven threat detection and resolution tools to their teams and key stakeholders.
"For decades, security teams have been hampered in their work by information overload: using the traditional SIEM-based approach, they have largely failed to accomplish their task of finding a needle in a haystack. Vectra's technology has the potential to radically improve capabilities for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and security teams by detection and response to violations. Its industry-leading data science team, supported by world-class security researchers, makes a real difference in this space,” he explained Steve Cottrell, EMEA CTO of Vectra AI. "I'm excited to support Vectra's threat-led approach, using AI and machine learning to deliver high-fidelity alerts that identify potential breaches. Ultimately, this means security teams can bring greater value to their business operations in terms of breach resilience."
For the past 15 years, Cottrell has worked as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in large enterprises and brings to Vectra a wealth of experience gained in key sectors, such as communications, Telco and insurance. Prior to joining Vectra, Cottrell served as CISO at Fujitsu, Vodafone, Aviva and Admiral Insurance. Even before that, he was a security specialist at Intel.
“I RansomOps,rapid digitalisation and adoption of cloud continue to transform the security landscape and for this reason organizations need to adopt a new approach. That's why I'm particularly happy that Steve Cottrell has joined the Vectra team,” he underlined Willem Hendrickx, SVP International for Vectra AI. "We want to focus on large enterprises in the year ahead, and Steve's insight and experience will be invaluable as he understands how the combination of cutting-edge technology and talented people can dramatically improve security. Steve will be our secret weapon in EMEA, helping to secure network, cloud and environments. He will achieve these goals by working with customers to bring Vectra's unique capabilities into their workflows and processes."
"Having spent a lot of time working as a CISO in large companies, I understand the challenges that CISOs and their teams face every day. I have also experienced firsthand the failure of some security products that failed to create value," concluded Cottrell. “I now feel well-placed to ensure we are addressing the challenges that are truly top-of-mind for security teams and are driving a rapid and tangible return on investment in terms of risk reduction.”
