The new Advanced Zero-day Automated Protection (ZAP) solution, thanks to Machine Learning capabilities, increases DDoS protection, allowing you to quickly identify and reduce threats without resorting to manual interventions.
A10 Networks (NYSE: ATEN), a company specializing in Application Visibility Performance and Security, adds Zero-day Automated Protection (ZAP) features to the Thunder Threat Protection System (TPS) family of solutions, a leader in defense against DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, with Zero-day Automated Protection (ZAP) features, which automatically recognize typical DDoS attacks and apply filters to contain the overload of requests, avoiding any manual intervention. This speeds up response to attacks, while also minimizing downtime, errors and operational costs.
Today, DDoS attacks are more frequent, are activated in multi-vector mode and transform over time. With millions of IoT devices expected to be in use in the coming years as the move to 5G networks accelerates, traditional DDoS prevention solutions will quickly become inadequate. The solutions currently available are in fact static, reactive and require significant intervention by the operator, resulting in a slowdown in response time compared to the rapid evolution of the attacks themselves.
It's clear that detecting and containing DDoS attacks is a growing concern for enterprises, cloud providers and providers. As emerged from a recent survey of mobile operators conducted by A10 Networks, 63% of respondents consider advanced DDoS protection to be the most important security feature needed for 5G networks. The DDoS protection enhanced by Machine Learning
A10 Networks' ZAP capabilities are based on two elements: dynamic attack pattern recognition using a machine learning algorithm and recognition analysis of how the attack occurred to dynamically identify anomalous behavior and attack agents. ZAP works in conjunction with A10 Networks' adaptive DDoS security model and attack mitigation engines, defined by five-layer adaptive policies, to provide a comprehensive, in-depth defense. This comprehensive approach helps block DDoS attacks while protecting legitimate users from the indiscriminate collateral damage typically associated with traditional DDoS protection methods.
The policies associated with ZAP features can be enforced by a combination of hardware and software. Thunder SPE (Security and Policy Engine) appliances can offer up to 100,000 ZAP policies at line rate, and the remaining ZAP policies can be defined by software. In this way, high performance is ensured to contain superior attacks compared to the traditional software solution, allowing superior response times and scalability.
