The two companies have developed a complex architectural restyling project thanks to the innovative solutions and skills offered by the system integrator
Computer Center, a consultancy company specializing in products, services and IT solutions for businesses, has supported Varvel, a leading company in the engineering sector specializing in the production of industrial components in the field of transmission components, in the entire process of renewing the IT infrastructure of the 'agency.
Varvel is a company that has been operating since 1955 in the design and production of geared motors, reducers and variable speed drives for stationary applications of small and medium power used in numerous application sectors. It has been an internationally recognized partner in the power transmission sector for more than 60 years. It is a group made up of 4 manufacturing companies and 2 foreign branches in India and the United States with over 250 employees and a turnover of around 50 million euros and a strong vocation for exports.
In 2020, Varvel, until then equipped with an IT system with partial continuity of automated service with tape backup, decided to completely renew the IT infrastructure and to embark on a path of innovation that also included advanced tools for managing workstations Work.
For this reason, it is looking for a partner capable not only of supplying the necessary hardware and software, but also and above all, a 360-degree service, a partner capable of intervening both in basic requests and in all which revolves around the architecture, from hardware to network equipment and their management.
The decision to entrust the implementation of the new infrastructure to Centro Computer originates from a long-standing collaboration relationship and from the highly innovative and competitive proposal proposed by the system integrator. Centro Computer also ensured timely implementation and intervention that fully met Varvel's needs.
After defining the structure of the two new data centers envisaged, the project quickly got underway in mid-April. Centro Computer supplied, installed and configured the new DataCenter built with HPE NIMBLE DHCP solution on 2 redundant sites and updated the networking using HPE switches.
Antiviruses have been replaced with the switch to Sophos EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) and Firewalls are being replaced, which will also manage the VPN with the Indian branch, thanks to the adoption of Fortinet solutions.
For the entire infrastructure, Varvel has decided to use the proprietary service of Centro Computer CCASIR (Centro Computer Abbonamenti Servizi Integrati Remoti), a monitoring service in the Cloud which allows constant and complete control of the entire IT system, relieving the ICT department of the company from routine duties, and supporting him with the experience and skills of the Centro Computer team of specialists.
"The implementation of CCasir and the transition to Sophos allow us to manage both the remote control and the patches, essential for security, quickly and easily, - he says Luca Parisi, Varvel Information System Officer. – We have almost completed the installation on the company PCs and we are able to intervene promptly and successfully if and when necessary".
“This important project implemented with Varvel has significantly strengthened a long-standing collaboration, – is the comment of Davide Govoni, Senior Commercial of Computer Center – The customer was able to see the strong commercial and technical synergy within our company, in collaboration with the market leading vendors that we have proposed as solutions, and this has created a profitable and solid relationship of trust of which we are proud".
“Being able to delegate assistance on workstations to Centro Computer if necessary is certainly a significant plus for us”, he says Mauro Cominoli, Managing Director of Varvel – Furthermore, having foreseen two specular data centers as servers, storage and switches allows us to have no moments of downtime and data loss and this makes our work safer".
“Supporting companies in the digital transformation process is a difficult but rewarding task,” he concludes Roberto Vicenzi, Digital Innovation Manager of Centro Computer – and it is a process which companies can no longer escape in order to remain competitive and face the new rules imposed by the market. There is no growth without change and we are grateful to Varvel for having us alongside him in this important innovation process”.
The two companies are currently collaborating to make data and information accessible to employees and collaborators, including from the outside.
