Available across EMEA, Vertiv™ Edge Lithium-Ion UPSs offer longer battery life, greater runtime and lower TCO
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and uninterruptible power solutions, introduces new high-efficiency single-phase uninterruptible power systems (UPS) with lithium-ion batteries, expanding its line-interactive UPS portfolio. With capacities ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 VA in convertible tower and rack-mount form factors, the solutions Vertiv™ Edge Lithium-Ion they are available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Lithium-ion batteries (also known as Li-ion or LIB) require less maintenance and are therefore an ideal choice for deployments at the edge of the grid, where IT support is limited. Compared to valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries, lithium-ion batteries last up to 3 times longer, which optimizes the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Furthermore, they are more efficient even at high temperatures, are smaller, lighter and offer longer autonomy than VRLA batteries used for UPS systems of these capacities. Vertiv Edge UPSs with lithium-ion batteries provide up to 10 minutes of battery backup at full load, compared to approximately 4-5 minutes for a standard UPS with VRLA batteries.
“With increasing digitalization, many applications are moving to the edge of the network and require reliable power protection,” he said Karsten Winther, Vice President Sales di Vertiv EMEA. "UPS systems with lithium ion batteries offer advantages in terms of cost and efficiency, and reduce the need for on-site maintenance. This effectively means greater stability and savings for critical Edge deployments and greater freedom of choice for our customers."
The Vertiv Edge Lithium-Ion UPS is ideal for edge computing sites and for various vertical sectors, from healthcare to banking, from education to retail up to public administration. It comes with a standard 5-year warranty on the electronics and battery. The system can be integrated with Vertiv™ VR Rack providing a standardized IT infrastructure that can be easily deployed across multiple branch locations.
The Vertiv™ Edge Lithium-Ion UPS family is supported by software Vertiv™ Power Insight, available for free download from the Vertiv website. Vertiv Power Insight allows users to easily monitor and manage up to 100 rack power distribution units (rPDUs) and UPS systems, with shutdown protection for single and virtual servers, providing greater visibility and better management of multiple Edge systems deployed across various locations. The new version of Vertiv Power Insight provides the VMware vCenter plug-in to simplify power management and availability.
