The initiative - which started on 13 February and will end on Monday 24 February - is part of the initiative within Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, the corporate social responsibility project promoted by Acronis and wants raise awareness among new generations of the conscious and safe use of technologies
Acronis, global leader in the Cyber Security and in the data protection, promoted the "Cyber Safety" workshop aimed at stimulating knowledge of information security among young people and sharing suggestions on how to counteract the possible risks of digital life.
The initiative, which started on February 13th, involved approximately 80 students from the two-year period of the "Eugenio Montale" Higher Education Institute of Cinisello Balsamo in the first two events, with the participation of the teaching staff as well.
In the two meetings, Francisco Amadi, Partner Technology Evangelist EMEA of Acronis, illustrated to the audience the evolution of cyber threats and shared some suggestions for safer use of the Internet, such as the creation of multi-factor passwords and the precautions to be taken on social media or to combat phishing. A reflection was also stimulated on the phenomena of cyberbullying and fake news as well as on the impact of digital fingerprints over time.
A third and final session will be held on Monday 24 February and will also touch on the topics of Big Data, artificial intelligence and the so-called "information bubble" generated by information selection mechanisms activated by personalization algorithms.
This educational activity, the first in Italy, is part of the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, the corporate social responsibility project promoted by Acronis which since its launch has always had a focus on developing the IT skills of young generations with the aim of helping them to be digitally resilient citizens.
In fact, Generation Z is undoubtedly faster in adopting new applications and technologies, but for this very reason it shows a strong confidence in digital technology which leads it to frequently ignore even basic cybersecurity and privacy protection practices.
"Kids are constantly online today, but many are unaware of the risks they face. That's why, through the Acronis Cyber Foundation program, we organize workshops in schools to teach essential cybersecurity skills, such as protecting personal information, recognizing online threats and using technology safely," says Gilberto Bonutti, Senior Strategic Partner Account Manager at Acronis. "In this direction, Acronis is committed to supporting the communities where it operates by helping young people develop responsible habits and behaviors. This workshop is a great opportunity to empower students and we look forward to organizing similar initiatives in the future."
