D-Link and C2 Corporate: an avant-garde network for innovation in the naval sector of Gicom

by Grandangolo Communications / Friday, 04 April 2025 / Published in D-Link

The project saw D-Link and C2 Corporate collaborate to modernize the network, improve communications management and guarantee operational efficiency and safety of the company specialized in integrated communication systems for the naval sector

D-Link, a world-leading company in the networking solutions sector, supported GICOM S.r.l., an international company specialized in integrated communication systems for the naval sector, in the updating and modernization of its network infrastructure. The project, carried out in collaboration with the system integrator C2 Corporate S.r.l., has made it possible to significantly improve the management and performance of audio-video communication systems on merchant ships and shipyards in Shanghai.

GICOM needed a new network infrastructure capable of integrating sophisticated audio diffusion systems, while ensuring high quality and security standards. The need for this update emerged as part of a tender, which saw D-Link stand out for the reliability and innovation of its solutions. The collaboration between the two companies was born precisely from this context, giving rise to a strategic partnership aimed at meeting the needs of a modern and efficient infrastructure. The project required the replacement of obsolete components, coordination between multiple suppliers and operational continuity during implementation.

D-Link provided a complete and high-performance solution, combining latest generation switches and access points with the centralized management software Nuclias Connect. This allowed GICOM to intuitively and remotely manage the entire infrastructure, both in shipyards and on board merchant ships. The DGS-1210 series switches, characterized by high performance and flexibility, ensured reliable connectivity, while the DAP-X2810 Wi-Fi 6 access points enabled extended coverage and greater capacity to manage network traffic. The adoption of Nuclias Connect (DNH-100) has simplified centralized network management, offering IT administrators constant monitoring and the ability to intervene in real time to optimize operations and ensure a stable and secure communication flow.

The modernization of the infrastructure has allowed GICOM to significantly improve the stability and performance of its audio-video communication systems, ensuring greater operational efficiency and reliability. Thanks to the new network architecture, merchant ships and shipyards now have more responsive and scalable connectivity, capable of supporting evolving operational needs. The Nuclias Connect platform allows IT administrators to monitor the status of the network in real time and intervene quickly if necessary, ensuring operational continuity and optimization of resources. Furthermore, the ability to flexibly configure the network and implement updates remotely reduces maintenance times and improves overall system security.

"Our network has been completely renovated, allowing us to significantly improve our audio and video communication systems. We now have a stable and high-performance infrastructure, which allows us to operate with greater efficiency and reliability." he declared Manuel Sementa, Technical Director of GICOM.

Also David Braga, Enterprise Sales Manager of C2 Corporate S.r.l., underlined the value of the collaboration with D-Link: “Thanks to the synergy between our technical skills and D-Link's advanced technologies, we have managed to guarantee a cutting-edge network infrastructure, capable of fully supporting GICOM's audio and video communication systems.”

Alessandro Riganti, Mediterranean D-Link Country Manager, added: "This project represents a clear example of how our solutions can make a difference in the naval sector, guaranteeing reliability, efficiency and simplified management. The collaboration with GICOM and C2 Corporate demonstrates our commitment to providing advanced network technologies, capable of responding to the most complex needs with innovative and high-performance solutions. Our experience in the sector and the success of this initiative confirm the validity of our strategy oriented towards innovation and technological support of cutting-edge companies"

D-Link thus confirms its commitment to providing innovative, reliable and secure network solutions, supporting companies in the digital transformation also of the naval sector, such as GICOM.
