Vertiv™ PowerSwitch 7000 enables highly available power architectures for data centers, offering greater reliability through seamless switching between different power sources
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, introduced the new Vertiv™ PowerSwitch 7000, a next-generation static switch that solidifies Vertiv's position as a power system manufacturer. The device further expands the end-to-end portfolio of Vertiv solutions developed to support the continued growth and performance of the critical digital world. Designed to support seamless operations in vital industries such as data centers, financial services and manufacturing technologies, the Vertiv PowerSwitch 7000 meets the growing demand for power reliability in an increasingly digital world. The solution is available from today in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and allows you to maintain continuity of the electricity supply and avoid costly interruptions.
The Vertiv PowerSwitch 7000 acts downstream of redundant uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) in dual-bus and backup bus power architectures for infrastructures that cannot tolerate power interruptions, such as enterprise and colocation data centers. The system enables continuous automatic transfers between stand-alone power sources, providing essential redundancy for single-cable loads and additional protection for dual-cable equipment. An internally redundant architecture also eliminates potential points of failure.
“Power preservation and reliability are critical considerations for data center operators, especially when it comes to planning for increased computing,” said Greg Hoge, Product Management Global Director at Vertiv. “Combining reliable switching, operational flexibility, ease of maintenance and intelligent diagnostics, the Vertiv PowerSwitch 7000 sets a high standard of operational excellence in power switching technology for the most demanding data center applications.”
The updated system offers innovative maintenance features that include a compartmentalized design that separates high-voltage sections from inspection areas, increasing operator safety and improving overall functionality. The front-access design allows for maintenance without interruption to service, reducing repair times and providing continuous power to critical loads. Flexible installation options, including top or bottom cable routing, make it ideal for raised and unraised floor environments. Modular SCRs (silicon controlled rectifiers), hot-swappable fan assemblies and tool-free air filters enable quick maintenance and consistent performance.
The 9-inch color touchscreen control panel on the device offers advanced wave signal detection capabilities, allowing the platform to function as a diagnostic tool, capturing power measurements at a high sampling rate during transfer events, to support a comprehensive analysis of the root problem. This intelligent monitoring system gives plant managers easy access to system data, helping them quickly identify and respond to power disturbances. Remote monitoring is available through the communication card Vertiv™Intellislot™ RDU120, UL2900-1 certified for cybersecurity, offering secure, remote access to system diagnostics and conditions.
The Vertiv™ PowerSwitch 7000 integrates seamlessly with Vertiv's full range of power management solutions, including uninterruptible power supplies and power distribution units, creating a complete energy protection ecosystem. The solution is supported by Vertiv™ Global Services, a global network of qualified experts offering a broad portfolio of projects, lifecycles and digital services to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
