New design delivers energy-efficient end-to-end cooling and power to handle densities up to 142kW per rack
Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, has unveiled a reference architecture for energy-efficient cooling and power from 142 kW for the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 platform. In addition to fully integrated end-to-end power and cooling solutions for this next-generation platform, this architecture ushers in a new era of infrastructure design that stands apart from traditional buildout systems. Vertiv solutions are available as assets SimReady™ 3D in NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint for designing and managing AI Factories. The architecture can be customized for ad hoc data center designs, in order to drastically reduce planning times and risk factors during the construction phases.
Vertiv partners with NVIDIA and their data center roadmaps to define new AI infrastructure and deployment-ready designs that anticipate increasing rack power densities. Notably, Vertiv is partnering with NVIDIA to support 800 VDC data center power infrastructure for IT racks of 1 MW and above, with Vertiv solutions available from 2026.
“Building on our partnership with NVIDIA and our shared vision to evolve AI infrastructure, Vertiv is proud to introduce our complete reference design and SimReady™ 3D assets for the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 platform,” said Scott Armul, executive vice president of global portfolio and business units at Vertiv. “Vertiv solutions offer customers not only the benefit of faster scalability, but also the ability to optimize their AI data centers digitally, before even building a single physical module.”
“Combining NVIDIA's most advanced AI platforms with Vertiv's expertise in power and cooling infrastructure enables us first and foremost to offer customers the ability to deploy next-generation data centers that are more efficient, scalable, and ready to tackle the most demanding AI workloads,” said Dion Harris, senior director of NVIDIA's HPC and AI Infrastructure division. “Together, we help organizations achieve new levels of performance and sustainability as they build the future of AI.”
The reference architecture for NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 is an integral part of the Vertiv™ 360AI infrastructure platform, designed to assist customers in managing integrated solutions for powering and cooling AI workloads and other high-performance computing applications.
Key benefits of Vertiv's SimReady™ 3D reference architecture and assets for the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 project include:
- Simulation and implementation in a single process: Leveraging NVIDIA Omniverse technologies, the architecture bridges physical and digital infrastructure, enabling real-time system-level collaboration between IT, facility and engineering teams – allowing customers to test, optimize and validate the design before a single component is built.
- Designed ad hoc for the era of AI Reasoning: Supporting rack densities up to 142kW, the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 reference architecture represents a new benchmark for accelerated infrastructure – designed for AI Factory on a large scale.
- Accelerated performance, scalability and speed: Vertiv's reference architecture for the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 delivers 1.5x greater AI performance, up to 50% faster on-site build speed, and 30% less physical space.
- Thermal flexibility and increased efficiency: The liquid cooling-ready system, which supports air-cooled and hybrid configurations, achieves a 70% improvement in energy efficiency year-on-year thanks to higher water temperatures.
- Design, Deploy, Operate – Globally: Supported by more than 4,000 Vertiv engineers worldwide, Vertiv's reference architecture for the GB300 NVL72 delivers unmatched scalability, support and supply chain reliability for global AI deployments.
As global demand for AI grows exponentially, Vertiv is committed to providing energy-efficient cooling and power solutions to enable AI-ready infrastructure to drive the next generation of AI Factory.
