The historic collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (D.I.E.T.I.) and the more recent one with the ASTREA Lab, both connected to the Federico II University of Naples, has contributed to the development in Campania of an intelligent IT network aimed at eliminating geographical barriers in accessing specialist care for children and ensuring continuity of care
Innovaway, a company specialized in advanced IT solutions and services for businesses and public administrations, coordinated the technological development of the "INFANT" project, confirming its active role in innovation in the healthcare sector.
Developed by the Automated Strategic Reasoning (ASTREA) laboratory of the Federico II University of Naples with the coordination of Prof. Aniello Murano - professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the university - the project confirms Innovaway's expertise in the field of the most advanced technologies also in the e-Health sector.
The INFANT pilot project - presented today at the Royal Palace of Portici (NA) and included in the MUSA (Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action) innovation ecosystem of the University of Milan, financed with PNRR funds - is dedicated to the development in Campania of an IT network for pediatric oncology aimed at significantly improving the lives of many children affected by cancer and their families. The objective is to support the reception of young patients in the nearest hospitals, avoiding uprooting families from their social contexts and limiting the so-called healthcare migration.
Furthermore, the solution allows all healthcare facilities in Campania to access the medical records and treatment protocols of young patients through an efficient and secure platform, guaranteeing continuity of care and uniformity of care across the entire regional territory.
In the role of leader of the technological partnership, Innovaway has assumed the strategic governance of the entire project ecosystem, orchestrating not only the technical-administrative and management aspects, but also acting as a catalyst for innovation thanks to its wealth of skills in Industrial Research and new technologies. In particular, the company shared its experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence applied to areas such as: data analytics, predictive systems, Generative AI, Retrieval Augmented Generation, knowledge representation, algorithms and standards for digital health, data security and governance, also dealing with scouting, co-design, development and testing of prototypes.
INFANT saw the collaboration of Innovaway with three other technological partners such as: Kineton, Nexus and Lasting Dynamics, which provided specific skills in the field of multi-cloud infrastructures, AI algorithms applied to e-Health, system integration and user-experience.
Professor Murano underlines the central role played by Innovaway in coordinating the activities and operations of the project: "The ability of Innovaway engineers, developers and programmers in transforming concepts from my scientific research into central actions, tools and platforms for the development of INFANT is commendable”.
“INFANT expresses the strategic vision of Innovaway: a company that has made industrial research its DNA, constantly investing in R&D to design and test innovative solutions with tangible impact not only on an economic-productive level, but also on a social level", declares Antonio Giacomini, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Innovaway: "An approach that finds precious lifeblood in solid and lasting relationships with the academic and scientific world, contributing to concretely improving key areas for the country system such as the healthcare system, for the benefit of communities and the weakest, in particular children".
Looking to the future of INFANT, Innovaway hopes, in addition to a consolidation of technical-scientific skills, an expansion of the implementation of the platform to replicate the model that will be tested in Campania, in other regions of the country and in Europe, spreading its benefits.
Innovaway's commitment to the healthcare sector is confirmed by its solid experience in the development of digital solutions for the management and integration of clinical data, diagnostic support and the creation of platforms for continuity of care and centralized booking systems.
The company's expertise has also developed thanks to long-term strategic collaborations. Among these, the partnership with the ASTREA Laboratory represents a piece of the multi-year relationship between Innovaway and the Federico II University of Naples, in particular with the D.I.E.T.I. and Prof. Murano, started in 2019 with the Urban Mobility SENECA project as part of Borgo 4.0.
