MITER Engenuity's ATT&CK Evaluations team tested ESET Enterprise Inspector against attack techniques emulating the infamous Carbanak and FIN7 groups. ESET also took part in the optional protection scenario.
ESET, a global leader in the cybersecurity market, announced that it has participated with the solution ESET Enterprise Inspector in the third round of ATT&CK® Evaluations. The MITER Engenuity team leveraged the knowledge base MITER ATT&CK® to conduct simulated attacks using the tactics and techniques of Carbanak and FIN7 – adversary groups known for targeting financial services and hospitality companies. The third round of evaluations began in the second half of 2020 and the results were announced in recent days.
“ESET Enterprise Inspector, an endpoint detection & response solution, is proving to be mature and we therefore felt the need to put it to the test to evaluate how it stands up to the most advanced persistent threat tactics and techniques, which is why we chose to participate in the ATT&CK® tests,” he explained Roman Kováč, Chief Research Officer di ESET. “We have been monitoring Carbanak since 2015, but cybercrime is constantly evolving, so it remains critical to keep pace by putting our security solutions to the test and getting feedback from the experts on the MITER Engenuity team.”
In this test, ESET Enterprise Inspector was evaluated against dozens of ATT&CK techniques. In addition to the Detection category, ESET was one of 17 vendors (out of 29 total) that opted in to extend ratings for the Protection category. The MITER Engenuity team has released a vendor comparison tool that will make it easier to highlight the differences between solutions on the market
“MITRE ratings enable the security community to make more informed decisions through a transparent evaluation process, and we are pleased that ESET participated in this important test, along with many other vendors,” commented Frank Duff, MITRE ATT&CK Evaluations Lead. "Using the MITER ATT&CK framework as a reference point and consulting publicly available results, users can analyze how ESET Enterprise Inspector detected emulation of Carbanak and FIN7's actions. Working together, these assessments can make cyberspace safer for everyone."
