The new solution makes it easier to remotely configure, manage and support devices of all types based on the Open Source operating system
Praim, a global company that develops software solutions for the creation and management of advanced workstations and Thin & Zero Client hardware solutions, which has always been committed to integrating the best solutions available into its products, has announced Agile4Linux, the third member of the Agile family. Agile4Linux further extends the potential of the Praim world, opening up the possibility of remotely configuring, managing and supporting devices based on the Linux operating system.
Agile4Linux operates on an Ubuntu MATE distribution and is easily installed or run even in "live" mode (directly from a USB stick). This solution allows you to transform even devices for which you do not have a Windows license into fully managed workstations, centrally controlled and capable of accessing remote resources. All sharing the same configurations already in use in Agile4PC.
The versatility and ease of configuration and extension of Ubuntu MATE enable the creation of customized workstations, giving the possibility to install favorite software (including Open Source), support peripherals, apply the desired updates and carry out the ideal system configurations for the single workstation. With its cloning features, Agile4Linux allows you to concentrate on a single workstation and then automatically replicate all the customizations on all the workstations you need in a few simple steps.
Devices powered by Praim's Agile4Linux can be used with the "Disk Protection" mode which allows users to always be provided with "brand new" and functional devices regardless of previous use, ensuring that any changes made during use are volatile and forgotten after the device is rebooted.
Furthermore, Praim has perfected the functionality of Write Filter, which allows you to experiment with new configurations and make them effective only after having tested them, with the possibility of canceling them and returning to the previous set-up. The Write Filter makes it easier for the IT administrator and allows you to modify, install and configure all aspects of your Ubuntu MATE system without risking compromising the current system. It will be possible to confirm and save the configuration you just experimented with or, with Write Filter active, at the next restart all changes will be automatically canceled. Similarly, it is possible to control (enable or disable) the use of the Write Filter flexibly, even remotely, via ThinMan.
Peculiar features of Agile4Linux:
- maximum scalability through snapshot cloning controlled by ThinMan;
- possibility of operating in “protected disk” mode (with “Write Filter” active and the possibility of operating configurations with “Try & Test”), also controllable remotely;
- possibility to restore the factory configuration.
These are in addition to the common features of the entire Agile world: sharing of configuration profiles with Agile4PC; centralized device management thanks to Praim ThinMan; automated management of remote resources (virtual or cloud) and local applications; desktop lock, simplified desktop mode, desktop branding; controlled blocking of peripherals; creation of web kiosks; remote and centralized assistance; zero-config displacement and scalability.
“The latest addition to the Agile family fills us with satisfaction and allows us to offer our customers an increasingly complete and varied offering,” he explains. Jacopo Bruni, Marketing Manager di Praim. – With Agile, and therefore through a single configuration interface, we enable companies to take full control of a totally mixed infrastructure, made up of PCs and laptops, Windows and Linux, Thin Clients and Raspberry Pi. Furthermore, with the integration with the ThinMan Advanced management console it is possible to define and collect user and device profiles, reusing them without distinction between one platform and another".
