Vertiv™ Libert® CWA is a ready-to-use air conditioning solution, designed to increase the technological level of chilled water air treatment systems in non-raised floor installations
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, introduced Vertiv™ Liebert® CWA, a new generation thermal management system for data centers with unraised floors. For decades, providers of hyperscale systems and colocation services have used raised floor environments to air-condition their IT infrastructures. A data center design based on an unraised floor allows for new free areas to be created more efficiently and economically, but generates some air conditioning challenges. The Liebert CWA unit has been designed to guarantee uniform distribution of air over a larger surface than that which characterizes the application of an unraised floor, while allowing greater space for the installation of racks and computing units. Made in the USA, the Liebert CWA Chilled Water Thermal Wall unit is available in 250kW, 350kW and 500kW models and is available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as the Americas.
Liebert CWA technology features next-generation integrated controls to facilitate better airflow management and provide an efficient solution for infrastructures that must meet the challenges of today's IT applications. The Liebert CWA system can also be integrated into the data center chilled water system to improve the operating conditions of the entire air conditioning network. Furthermore, Liebert CWA can be installed outside the IT area to increase the availability of space in the data center, facilitate maintenance interventions and to enhance the security of the IT environment itself.
“The release of Liebert CWA confirms our desire to offer customers innovative, next-generation technologies that allow them to optimize the design and operation of their data centers,” said Roberto Felisi, senior global director, thermal core offering & EMEA business leader at Vertiv. “Because Liebert CWA can be quickly integrated with existing air conditioning systems, customers can reap all the benefits of a raised floor layout, such as lower installation and maintenance costs and greater availability of free space.”
Air handling units have been used in the past to cool data centers with raised floors, but the market today offers the opportunity to promote more innovative thermal management solutions for data centers with unraised floors. Vertiv Liebert CWA offers customers a standardized thermal wall made specifically for data center applications, minimizing the cost of assembling custom structures on site. The system layout was designed to optimize the cooling density and respond to the air conditioning continuity requirements defined by the most accredited and consolidated control authorities for the design and monitoring of data centers.
Vertiv developed the Liebert CWA solution in close collaboration with specialized data center operators. Because data centers are characterized by a multitude of device layouts and configurations, Vertiv has defined a strategic roadmap to enhance standard thermal management solutions for raised floor installations. Vertiv also provides consultancy and design services to create the right solution for specific data center clearance requirements as requested by customers.
