Pederzoli Hospital has chosen the Cohesity solution on Cisco infrastructure to modernize many of its daily data management operations, improve storage efficiency and reduce costs
Cohesity announced today that Pederzoli Hospital has chosen to implement Cohesity DataProtect software, achieving a 35% reduction in TCO, saving 40% of storage space and simplifying a previously time-consuming and complicated backup process.
Pederzoli Hospital is a multi-site hospital that records over 42,000 emergency room visits per year. Every day it provides 2,900 outpatient services and carries out 68 surgical operations, equal to approximately 1 million outpatient services and 18,000 surgical operations per year.
Hospital management is demanding and complex, data protection compliance requirements are rigorous, and medical staff must be able to quickly access medical records and other information.
Therefore, the hospital was looking for a new solution that could address a number of compelling needs, including a simplified data management platform, the elimination of backup, file storage and sharing silos, and faster document search and retrieval. Furthermore, Pederzoli needed a WORM (Write Once, Read Many times) solution for archiving medical data and to improve backup and recovery activities, including disaster recovery and protection against cyber threats, such as ransomware attacks.
Since diagnostic documentation must be kept for at least 20 years, Pederzoli Hospital needed efficient storage capacity, superior quality archiving and backup, and excellent, extremely fast data search and retrieval capabilities.
Pederzoli implemented Cohesity on four clusters with Cisco UCS C220 M5 and integrated Cisco Intersight and Cisco SecureX. A secure web-scale solution that integrates seamlessly with existing technologies while delivering faster search and recovery, ease of use for your IT team, high-performance backup and recovery, and significantly reduced data storage requirements.
The hospital company chose the Cohesity-Cisco solution not only to complete backup and recovery operations more quickly, but also to meet medical staff's demands for agility in data access. Compared to the previous legacy environment, Cohesity achieves 5x greater deduplication and compression, creating optimal backup storage efficiency and reducing costs.
"We have deployed Cohesity on Cisco UCS infrastructure for next-generation data management across all of our locations. Not only have our backup times improved by more than 50 percent, but we now have the flexibility to protect data on-premises," he said Francesco Corba Colombo, IT Infrastructure Manager of the Pederzoli Hospital. "With Cohesity and Cisco, we have the confidence that the solution will be able to accommodate our data growth, including medical record archiving, and support our future expansion. In addition to superior backup and recovery, with Cohesity we also gain strong protection against ransomware and greater confidence in meeting Pederzoli's compliance requirements."
