A former executive at Rubrik and ServiceNow, Blake brings deep experience in strategic and operational cyber resilience
Milan – 12 December 2022 – Cohesity, a leader in innovative data management, today announced the appointment of James Blake as Field Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Cohesity in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Blake will play a key role in advising organizations, helping them unite the worlds of security and data management and build an optimal cyber resilience and recovery strategy orchestrated from a single data management platform.
A security expert, Blake has spent much of the past two decades building the end-to-end preventive and investigative capabilities of cyber operations for the world's largest brick-and-mortar retailer, a technology company, a software company, a logistics company, an oil company, and other organizations. In this role he was in direct contact with clients, dealing with security incidents and the effects of a lack of resilience, including wipers by nation states and ransomware attacks. Blake was also a co-founder of the Security BSides conference in London and was the inaugural chair of the National Cyber Security Centre's Cyber Information Sharing Partnership.
Prior to joining Cohesity, Blake served as CISO at Rubrik. Even before covering this latest role, he was ServiceNow's Advisory Chief Information Security Officer. In both roles he collaborated with the highest level managers of FTSE 100 and Fortune 100 organisations, helping to create and implement strategies and tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of cyber resilience in today's operating environment.
"Cyber attacks and ransomware are top boardroom concerns in most European organisations. I am thrilled to have James Blake join our team to bring his deep security expertise to our EMEA customers," he said Matt Waxman, Chief Solution Officer di Cohesity. "James' years of experience give him the background to understand the problems and operational constraints of clients across multiple verticals and to work with senior executives to develop pragmatic solutions. He can advise clients, prospects and partners to help them build an effective cyber resilience and recovery strategy."
“Having dealt firsthand with several ransomware and wiper attacks, I have realized that companies benefit when they have a strong impact mitigation preparedness and a close relationship between IT and Security in terms of teams and platforms,” he said James Blake, EMEA Field CISO di Cohesity. “A security and data management platform like Cohesity brings together data from today's diverse computing and storage environments and enables organizations to implement data-centric cyber resilience to reduce the impact of a cyber attack.”
