Updates to Cohesity Data Cloud make it easier for customers to detect and mitigate threats to recover quickly from accidents
Cohesity, the leader in AI-powered data security and management, has extended its lead as a pioneer in detection and recovery capabilities with GenAI with significant new enhancements to “Cohesity Data Cloud.” This additional implementation allows customers to use Cohesity's built-in AI capabilities to quickly detect, investigate and address potential threats, allowing them to restore operations much more quickly. New refinements to Cohesity's threat detection, data security strategy and cyber recovery assistance tool, as well as a new clean room design environment, provide organizations with an attack response wizard so they can move from alert to recovery safely and efficiently. Improvements that integrate Cohesity Gaia, the RAG-based AI solution released in February.
As cyber threats such as ransomware continue to proliferate, organizations are hampered by a lack of expertise in responding to these threats. According to the report Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2024 at the World Economic Forum, 36% of executives said gaps in preparedness were the biggest challenge they faced in achieving their cyber resilience goals. The “Cohesity Data Cloud” updates solve a very real and unfortunate industry challenge: Constrained by IT budgets and a shortage of cybersecurity know-how, enterprises need comprehensive data security and data management and recovery solutions that streamline the processes of identifying threats, mitigating issues, and quickly recovering from incidents.
In this direction, Cohesity has enhanced its AI-based cyber recovery assistant tool “Cohesity Data Cloud”, providing expert guidance to identify an appropriate response. By using security context as an input to GenAI and integrating it with multiple sources including threat detection scans, ransomware detection, risk and data behavior, among others, companies can receive an alert of anomalous behavior. They can then have a conversation to assess the impact of the anomaly and correlate the events and get guidance on next steps and any corrective solutions that may be needed, all from within the wizard without the need for specific IT skills. This expert guidance helps to have a better understanding of the anomaly and its impact and enables engaging the SOC team for timely incident response so that companies can quickly return to normal business operations.
“Threat actors are increasingly relying on AI to not only create more sophisticated attacks, but also dramatically increase their volume,” said Craig Martell, Chief Technology Officer at Cohesity. "We are therefore giving our customers the tools to fight fire with fire, helping them address these intrusions into their environment and address them quickly, ensuring business continues as usual. The improved IT Recovery Assistant and redesigned clean rooms will make organizations more resilient. We will continue to increasingly responsibly innovate the AI-driven capabilities of Cohesity Data Cloud."
Cohesity's clean room design provides reliable, proven support that accelerates incident recovery and enhances investigations by SOC teams, while minimizing the risk of secondary attacks. In detail, the modular structure helps isolate the attack or breach in a few minutes and provides several native features to support the needs of the SecOps team in clean room investigations. Cohesity Data Cloud's threat hunting capability provides workers with an accurate feed, helping them understand adversary techniques throughout the attack lifecycle by interacting with engineers in real time and in real language. DataProtect provides rapid access to system snapshots along the incident timeline, enabling file system forensics and evidence collection. With a better understanding of the full scope of the incident, teams can mitigate threats faster, allowing the organization to return to normal business as quickly as possible.
“We are always looking for new opportunities to strengthen our cyber resilience and ensure we are well prepared to withstand threats that are growing in volume and sophistication,” said Tim Fleming, Director of Technology Services for the Forsyth County Schools of Georgia district. "Cohesity is constantly innovating and always offering us new tools to protect and manage our data. That's why we believe they are the perfect partner to help simplify and optimize our security operations so we can stay focused on what matters to us: generating value for our students."
Computer recovery assistant and clean room design are available in “Cohesity Data Cloud”.
