La Riverbed Global AI & Digital Experience Survey esplora le opinioni sull’intelligenza artificiale, la curva di implementazione, le sfide e le strategie per il successo
Riverbed, a leader in AI Observability, presented the results of the Riverbed Global AI & Digital Experience Survey, which found that businesses are at an inflection point in accelerating the adoption of AI. Despite the high optimism, the Survey highlights this reality: while 94% of interviewees say that AI is a priority for company leaders and 91% recognize that it offers competitive advantages, only 37% are, at the moment , prepared to implement AI projects, as organizations are facing various challenges ranging from data quality to scalability issues, which influence the abilities to reap the benefits of adopting AI. However, rapid expansion is expected over the next three years, with businesses seeking effective approaches and methodologies for AI, and by 2027, 86% of leaders expect their organization to be ready to implement strategies and projects by AI.*

During the same period, AI is expected to mature and become an engine of growth. While 54% of leaders today say the primary reason for using AI is to improve operational efficiency over growth (46%), these percentages will reverse in 2027, with 58% of organizations believing that AI it will mainly be a growth driver with respect to efficiency (42%). Confidence in AI is also growing: leaders say they would rather use AI to automate a major IT upgrade (61%) than sit in the backseat of a driverless car in the city (39%).
“AI is a priority for IT leaders, as it can deliver enormous benefits for IT operations and transform industries and ways of working,” he said Jim Gargan, Chief Marketing Officer di Riverbed. “Despite the excitement, the Survey revealed several gaps that organizations must overcome to reap the full benefits of AI. What leaders want is to move from simple hype to concrete AI that works and delivers measurable results. At Riverbed, we offer customers a practical approach to AI that helps you develop an integrated strategy to optimize the digital experience and improve IT processes. Riverbed AI is safe, secure and accurate, and we address businesses' most pressing challenges: providing AI automation that works at scale, bridging the data gap with complete observability across IT infrastructure using real data, and offer acceleration solutions that support AI investments by moving data everywhere, quickly.”
Optimism about AI is high among company managements and younger employees
With AI poised to transform organizations around the world, the Survey revealed strong enthusiasm among senior management, younger employees and organizations at large.
– Today, 66% of leaders say AI is a key priority for their enterprise, and another 33% say it is moderately important.
– 94% agree that AI will help them offer a better digital experience to end users.
– 59% indicate that sentiment about AI within the organization is positive, 37% are neutral and only 4% are skeptical.
– When asked which generation is most comfortable with AI in the office, leaders said Gen Z (52%), followed by Millennials (39%), Gen X (8%) and Baby Boomers (1%). However, in the United States, Millennials are seen as AI natives (47% versus 40% of Gen Z).
The Survey also found that the majority of companies have passed the evaluation and experimentation phases of AI and today 65% are accelerating their strategies on the subject with growing investments in infrastructure and talent; another 23% are in the final transformation phase where AI is fully integrated into business processes.
Improve digital experience and IT processes with AI
The Global Digital Employee Experience (DEX) Survey di Riverbed del 2023 had previously highlighted that DEX is a crucial focus for businesses, especially with the ever-increasing digital expectations of Gen Z and Millennial employees, who represent approximately half of the global workforce. In this year's Survey, companies recognized the role AI plays in DEX, as 86% of leaders agreed that AI automation is important to improve IT efficiency and deliver better digital experience to users. Respondents ranked the top five ways they expect to use AI in IT processes to improve DEX over the next three years, including: workflow automation (72%), solution automation (69%), continuous support 24/7 such as chatbots (63%), data-driven insights (59%) and feedback analytics (57%). Leaders also said they expect numerous benefits from using AI in IT operations, including greater operational efficiency and productivity, faster IT service desk response times, increased revenue and a better digital experience for employees.
All leaders surveyed plan to use, test, or begin exploring generative AI (the most anticipated type of AI) for IT processes in the next 12 to 18 months. Currently, only 34% of enterprises have already implemented Gen AI use cases or have completed prototypes that they plan to put into production. Over the next 12 to 18 months, this percentage will nearly double to 67%, with the rest of organizations in the ideation phase.
Despite the enthusiasm for AI and its benefits, several gaps exist
Despite the great enthusiasm, the research has identified three gaps that organizations must overcome to ensure that the adoption of AI brings benefits and business success.
– Reality Gap. The majority of respondents (82%) believe they are ahead of their competitors (including significantly 30%) when it comes to AI adoption for IT services and DEX, and only 5% say they are slightly backwards. This gap between perception and reality means that many leaders are overconfident about where they are on the AI journey compared to their industry peers.
– Readiness Gap. As noted above, a readiness gap exists as only 37% of leaders say their organization is fully prepared to implement AI projects to date. Additionally, 72% say that with AI still maturing, it is difficult to implement effective, scalable AI.
– Data Gap. Nearly all leaders (85%) confirm that data is critical to AI. However, of those surveyed, 69% are concerned about the effectiveness of their organization's data for using AI, and only four in ten rate their data as excellent for completeness (43%) and accuracy (40%). ), with 42% saying data quality is a barrier to further investment in AI. Additionally, 76% of leaders surveyed are concerned about their data being accessible to the public.
Strategies for successful AI initiatives
Companies are trying to overcome challenges and promote successful strategies that produce tangible results, considering that 57% have formed teams dedicated to AI and 45% have formed observability and/or user experience teams.
When it comes to data, a majority of leaders (86%) say using real data, rather than synthetic data, is crucial to AI initiatives to optimize DEX. Additionally, 84% agree that observability across all elements of IT is important in an AIOps strategy, and at least 82% say observability to overcome network blind spots – including public cloud , remote work environments, Zero Trust architectures, and enterprise-owned mobile devices – is extremely or moderately important.
The Survey also found several correlations between the successful adoption of AI by high-performing organizations (with revenue growth of 10.5% or greater) versus low-performing organizations (stationary or declining revenues). .
– High-performing organizations prioritize AI, with 74% considering it a key strategic priority (and 26% moderately important) compared to 56% of low-performing organizations.
– 67% of high-performing organizations are already leveraging AI to improve DEX versus 45% of low-performing organizations.
– 63% of high-performing organizations provide extensive AI training compared to 41% of low-performing organizations.
The study explores: global sentiment towards AI and generational postures; the adoption curve; the benefits of AI, the gaps and strategies for success and the role of AI in IT operations and digital experience. The survey was conducted by Coleman Parkes Research in June 2024.
