The new version of Alluvio Aternity for sustainability provides environmental analyzes and automation to reduce the carbon footprint
Riverbed, the leader in Unified Observability, announced new features to improve the energy efficiency of its digital experience management (DEM) solution, Alluvio Aternity. Available starting this month, Aternity now includes pre-built dashboards that will provide IT managers and employees with insights into the environmental impact of device usage within the organization. Using Aternity Sentiment's automation and investigation capabilities, the solution supports sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency awareness and reporting requirements, helping to reduce costs associated with energy consumption.
Aternity captures and correlates granular data on actual end-user performance from all applications and devices, translating it into environmental and actionable insights to reduce carbon emissions. With the new energy efficiency offering, organizations can view and identify laptops and PCs that are running and consuming energy even when they are not actively used. Armed with this information, IT teams can automatically change the power settings of all or some devices to significantly reduce the company's overall energy consumption. The new energy efficiency offering also includes proactive messages that inform users about their energy consumption and provide corrective measures to change employee behavior. Alluvio Aternity also offers sentiment survey models to improve employee engagement and promote the adoption of sustainable practices for a better environmental impact.
“Riverbed's new energy efficiency capabilities support a key sustainability goal that many IT organizations are prioritizing for both environmental and cost-saving outcomes,” he said Richard Tworek, Chief Technology Officer, Alluvio, di Riverbed. "With hybrid work models, it is difficult to determine the energy consumption of end-user devices if staff are not physically present in the office. With Riverbed's Alluvio Unified Observability portfolio, we are uniquely positioned to drive a variety of sustainability initiatives that rely on data accuracy." Riverbed brings to market the first of Alluvio's many sustainability features, which will provide environmental insights and automation so organizations can reduce their carbon footprint."
One organization that is prioritizing key sustainability goals is Riverbed client Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT), one of the UK's largest national healthcare providers. “As well as using Alluvio Aternity to deliver a better digital experience for doctors and patients, our IT team can now begin to monitor endpoint energy consumption and, if necessary, adjust energy usage settings accordingly to help reduce carbon emissions, supporting the NHS's sustainability agenda, which aims to become the world's first carbon-neutral healthcare service,” said Darren Spinks, Head of IT Operations, Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. "Additionally, we have revised our asset refresh plan based on device performance. Aternity has shown us that 38% of our 1,318 devices that are five years old or older may not need to be replaced, potentially saving our investment and further contributing to our sustainability efforts."
“I'm excited about Riverbed's new sustainability capabilities in Alluvio Aternity and believe this is an important step in the right direction to provide businesses with tools that can more accurately measure a device's energy use, carbon footprint and environmental impact over its lifecycle,” said Jon Brown, Senior Analyst, Cloud, IT Operations and Sustainability at Enterprise Strategy Group. “I expect technology like this to be instrumental to an organization's overall ability to meet its ESG commitments.”
Alluvio Aternity's full-spectrum Digital Experience Management (DEM) features End User Experience Monitoring (EUEM) and Application Performance Management (APM) and provides insights into the business impact of the digital customer and employee experience by capturing and storing technical telemetry and sentiment feedback at scale from employee devices, every type of business application and cloud-native application service. Deployed as an agent on end user devices or application infrastructure, Alluvio Aternity detects what users actually see for every transaction, every application, running on every device. Today Alluvio Aternity manages more than six million endpoints globally, including five million for SaaS, and processes over 250 billion tasks per day, playing a vital role in the Digital Employee Experience (DEX). Alluvio Aternity is part of Riverbed's Alluvio Unified Observability portfolio, which also includes network performance management (NPM) solutions and Alluvio IQ, a Unified Observability service delivered in SaaS mode capable of detecting problems based on context to resolve them quickly.
