Oxigen required scalable power and cooling solutions to meet growing demand. Vertiv's solutions meet these needs and enable greater energy efficiency
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has partnered with Oxigen, a leader in data hosting, processing and sharing services, to design and deploy the company's largest data center. Vertiv's power and thermal solutions offer scalability and energy efficiency and the services provided provide complete support, helping to make Oxigen a point of reference for high-performance data centers in Spain.
Oxigen's second and largest data center, located in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona, Spain), has 6,000 m² of space – including a 3,000 m² functional “clean room” – and has the capacity to accommodate up to 800 racks with multiple power and customization options. This space allows Oxigen to quickly adapt to market demands, such as constantly evolving new AI projects. Although the current infrastructure occupies only a portion of the available space, the site is ready to deal with expected growth. The data center was designed in line with the criteria Tier III dell’Uptime Institute, which certify that the structure complies with high standards of availability and redundancy, allowing for greater resilience and connectivity.
Vertiv technologies are essential for the smooth and continuous operation of the data center, such as:
- The Vertiv™ high-performance chiller Liebert® AFC ensures precise control of the temperature and flow of the cooling fluid.
- In-row cooling units Vertiv™ Liebert® CRV, positioned near the racks, regulate temperature and humidity.
- Busbar systems Vertiv™ Powerbar iMPB They allow you to distribute power to device racks, significantly improving flexibility and scalability for the future.
Vertiv also provided the service Vertiv™ Critical Insight, a vendor-agnostic software that allows the qualified team to monitor everything that happens in the data center in real time, allowing constant control of any critical digital infrastructure and related applications on site or remotely. Critical Insight alerts monitors to current infrastructure conditions, trends and useful insights. It provides guidance on the measures to be taken when infrastructures reach certain reference values. Any interventions can be carried out by competent technicians, on site or remotely, if the control management system allows it.
This mix of modular technologies, together with energy consumption coming 100% from renewable sources, allows us to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Benjamin Rovira, CEO of Oxigen, said: "We have been working with the Vertiv specialists for over 20 years, during which time they have always demonstrated exceptional professionalism, providing cutting-edge technologies. We know both the products and the Vertiv team well and having always achieved excellent results, we are confident in their ability to adapt to our ever-changing needs. They are the ideal partner."
Oxigen's data center has a total power of 6 MW and a capacity of 20 kW per rack to cater to industries such as pharmaceutical, industrial, technology, education and government. Oxigen customers require their critical digital infrastructures to provide continuous uptime to support significant processing capacity, efficient cooling and available electrical power, especially during peak hours.
Jordi Gonzalez Sandalinas, enterprise account manager at Vertiv, commented: "The collaboration with Oxigen is a testament to how our solutions are able to adapt and evolve based on customer needs. Our focus on energy efficiency, combined with flexibility and ongoing support, allows Oxigen to expand without compromising the quality or security of its services.
