On March 10, in Milan, ESET and Cyberating will explore the role of Digital Repatriation in the new European regulatory scenario, between digital sovereignty, risk management and cyber strategies
Milan, 6 March 2026 – On March 10th Milan will host a high-level discussion on one of the topics that is shaping the cyber agenda at European level. The event will be held in the setting of the Hotel Gallia “Digital Repatriation: the role of European cyber technologies between strategy and geopolitics” organized by ESET, European leader in the cybersecurity market, e Cyberating, a leader in cyber risk intelligence.
The meeting comes at a time when the evolution of the European regulatory framework on cybersecurity and data protection - from NIS2 to DORA, up to the Cyber Resilience Act and the new provisions on the supply chain - is imposing a paradigm shift on organizations. More and more companies are asked to ask themselves where their data actually resides, who manages it, which third parties are involved and, above all, how to guarantee timely and effective response capabilities in the event of an incident.
The concept of Digital Repatriation fits into this context, understood as the process through which data, digital infrastructures and critical services are brought back under the direct control of European entities. This is not just a technical or compliance choice, but a decision that impacts digital sovereignty, risk management and operational continuity. Driven by an increasingly structured regulatory system, the topic is becoming central in the strategies of companies and institutions.
The morning agenda
The agenda of the event will guide a morning of interventions and discussions with Stefano Mele – Lawyer and Partner of the Gianni & Origoni law firm, Stefano Fratepietro – CEO of Cyberating, e Samuele Zaniboni – Sales Engineering Manager of ESET Italia, moderated by the Italian journalist and essayist Arthur of Corinth.
The first scheduled intervention will address Digital Repatriation in its geopolitical dimension. Repatriating data, infrastructure or technological capabilities means redefining dependencies and alliances, impacting the margins of strategic autonomy of states and organizations. In the field of cybersecurity, the control of technologies increasingly coincides with the control of risk: choosing where and how to place critical digital assets therefore becomes an international positioning lever, as well as a security measure.
Alongside the strategic and regulatory perspective, the event will delve into the topic of third-party and supply chain management. In a complex and interconnected digital ecosystem, visibility into suppliers and the ability to assess their risk profile are key elements to ensure resilience and compliance.
“Managing companies' cyber risk requires structured supply chain governance,” he says Stefano Fratepietro – CEO of Cyberating. "European Third-Party Risk Management platforms become fundamental tools for assessing and monitoring risks along the entire supplier ecosystem. In an increasingly demanding regulatory scenario, where the governance and impartiality of cyber data, together with visibility on third parties, is no longer an option, but a strategic and mandatory requirement to guarantee resilience, compliance and operational continuity".
The discussion will then move to the operational level, analyzing how to translate digital sovereignty into concrete prevention and response capabilities. In this area, Threat Intelligence and Managed Detection & Response services play a decisive role in anticipating threats and strengthening control over digital environments.
"As a European vendor, ESET reiterates its commitment to cybersecurity based on transparency and digital sovereignty, developing solutions and services that guarantee organizations full control over data and infrastructure. Digital Repatriation cannot be limited to data localization: it must translate into concrete control, monitoring and response capabilities" underlines Fabio Buccigrossi – Vice President of South West Europe Sales di ESET. “The advanced use of Threat Intelligence allows you to anticipate risks and threats, while ESET's MDR services support organizations in integrating security, compliance and incident response in a model consistent with the new needs of European digital sovereignty”
The appointment on March 10, from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm, will be a moment of qualified reflection and comparison between legal, risk management and technological perspectives, to understand how Digital Repatriation is redefining not only cybersecurity strategies, but also the economic and geopolitical balance of the European system.
