ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, and EVC Group have entered into a strategic collaboration aimed at boosting cyber and energy resilience in Europe, at a time when battery energy storage systems are becoming fundamental in modern energy infrastructures. The importance of these systems for the stability of electrical systems and critical energy networks continues to grow and cybersecurity is taking on a crucial role alongside performance, efficiency and reliability. The partnership responds to this evolution and lays the foundations for new models of approach to the security of energy technologies in the European context.
The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that defines a framework agreement for the development, certification and commercialization of a new generation of cyber-secure battery energy storage systems, called CyberSec BESS, designed for the European market. The strategic collaboration was made official on 25 June 2026 at Intersolar Europe in Munich, the main European event bringing together experts in the field of renewable energy, energy storage and energy technologies.
CyberSec BESS: the European response to cybersecurity and resilience in the energy storage sector
The shared goal of the partnership is to create a solution aimed primarily at the European market, designed from the start in compliance with European legislation, with cybersecurity requirements and long-term resilience of energy infrastructure. CyberSec BESS responds to the growing focus on security, accountability and transparency in critical energy technologies and is a system designed to meet not only current, but also future regulatory requirements of the European Union. The project combines European know-how in systems integration, cybersecurity and certification with global production capacity in the battery technology sector.
“Battery storage systems are becoming a critical component of energy infrastructure and must therefore be designed to ensure safety from the start,” said Martin Talian, chief corporate solutions officer at ESET. "At ESET we consider cybersecurity an integral part of these solutions and not a simple complement. The CyberSec BESS project represents an opportunity for us to capitalize on our many years of experience in the protection of critical infrastructures, while responding to the need to create an energy sector that is not only highly performing, but also resilient to current and future cyber threats", added Martin Talian.
“A safe and resilient energy infrastructure is not created by assembling individual components, but through a well-designed systemic approach,” underlined Oliver Garaj, managing director of EVC Group. "This is precisely why we initiated the partnership, which combines systems engineering, modern energy technologies and the highest standards of cybersecurity. The goal is to provide a solution that stands out not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of security, transparency and long-term operational reliability," he concluded.
