The Fleet Management Computer Center is the winning solution to meet
Carraro's new digital needs.
Computer Center, a consultancy company specializing in IT products, services and solutions for companies, has signed a new Fleet Management contract with Carraro SpA, reference company of the Group of the same name, leader in highly efficient and environmentally friendly power transmission systems. The project carried out by Centro Computer involved the implementation of a planned management of the company's IT machine park, in order to provide a constant monitoring and replacement service, thus definitively resolving the risk of operational inefficiency of employees due to the obsolescence of IT devices.
The Carraro Group, whose origins date back to 1932, was initially founded as a manufacturing company specialized in the production of seed drills and tools for agricultural work. Step by step the company developed new skills until it became, around the 1960s, one of the main Italian tractor manufacturers. The most important change occurred in the 1970s, when the core business goes from the complete vehicle to the traction systems. Carraro soon positioned itself globally as a point of reference in the design and production of axles and transmissions for agricultural and earthmoving machinery.
This is an evolution that leads the company to grow quickly and expand its presence beyond borders, to be alongside the most important global manufacturers. Hence the decision to go public in 1995, with the aim of supporting an important international expansion project which led the Group to have over 3,100 collaborators located in Italy, India, China, Argentina and Brazil.
The continuous search for modern and efficient solutions has faced Carraro with the need for a digital transformation that would facilitate employees in their activities. In particular, starting from 2012 the first evaluation was started regarding the transition to a planned management of the IT machine park at the Agritalia headquarters (the Group's plant located in Rovigo, specialized in the production of tractors). The main need was to preventively detect the obsolescence of the machines before they became inefficient due to faults. For this reason, Centro Computer has made its consolidated expertise available by offering Fleet Management as a solution, which circumscribes and offers the advantages of both traditional purchase and operational leasing, including the management of options, assistance on the products included in the Fleet Management contract, the reduction of the TCO and above all an accurate definition of the budget and the reduction of administrative management costs. The first contract between the two partners was signed following a tender launched by Carraro, which was followed by the implementation of 130 digital workstations. Over the course of four years, all existing machines were replaced with new ones according to standards developed specifically for the customer and within a year all the Group's Italian offices had adopted this tool for managing workstations. In total, four different machine models were supplied: the HP Compaq 8200 Elite desktop, the HP EliteBook 8460p notebook, the HP Z820 fixed workstation for engineering applications and the HP EliteBook 8560w mobile workstation for computing operations that can also be carried out on the move. In 2016, at the end of the contract, Carraro organized a second challenge, in which Centro Computer participated together with six other suppliers, winning again and implementing a total of 677 digital workstations.

"The selection of Computer Center was immediately married perfectly with the digital efficiency requirements of our Italian offices" - highlights Matteo Rosina, IT Infrastructure Manager of Carraro – "The obsolescence of the machines with which we had to deal periodically and the consequent need to purchase new ones led to obstacles to the operational efficiency of the employees, as well as entailing the burden of variable costs for the maintenance and replacement of the machines. With Fleet Management by Centro Computer, with which we now boast a historic partnership, these problems have been resolved. Today, in fact, we can count on always new machines and management systems that are always updated thanks to periodic replacement, without the need for their purchase and with the security of a fixed cost."
"Computer Center has been a great satisfaction to have again won the second challenge announced by Carraro with the Fleet Management solution" - says Roberto Vicenzi, Vice President of Computer Center – "The strength of this solution is the flexibility, which has allowed Carraro to follow up on its needs day after day, eliminating the organizational impact and recovering the productivity of the people involved in the management of orders and hardware and in the financial and administrative ones. Fleet Management offers an all-inclusive planning, maintenance, management and disposal service, without running the risk of being forced to return or replace equipment that is still efficient at the end of the contractual period. In this way we have guaranteed our customer the operational efficiency they needed, with the peace of mind of a fixed fee.”
