The M-VAULT data centers were created in a short time thanks to the support of Vertiv which provided three structures made up of 100 fully equipped prefabricated modules
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has supported MEEZA – a leading provider of managed end-to-end IT solutions and services aiming to improve the quality of life of Qataris – in the design, construction and installation of two new data centers in Qatar. The choice of Vertiv as MEEZA's partner is linked to the company's strong skills in offering end-to-end data center solutions that comply with the most rigorous regulations in the sector.
Over the past 14 years, MEEZA, Qatar's leading data center services provider, has delivered a broad range of managed IT services and solutions, in addition to cloud and cybersecurity. According to the report DataReportal Digital 2021, in January 2021 there were 4.67 million mobile connections and 2.88 million internet users in Qatar. The country's digital context is rapidly transforming and, in order to continue promoting digital progress and confirm itself as a reference partner for international hyperscalers, MEEZA needed a considerable increase in computing power, to be implemented quickly. To achieve this, Vertiv supported MEEZA in delivering 4.9 MW of data center capacity in just 14 months from design to installation, rather than the 22 months or more required to achieve similar capacity with a traditional solution.
MEEZA's new M-VAULT data centers, which offer cloud services to customers in Qatar, across the region and around the world, were built using Vertiv™ Integrated Modular Solutions (IMS), which allowed infrastructure to be easily installed in significantly less time than designing a traditional data center, thanks to their pre-engineered and pre-fabricated specificity. Over 14 months, Vertiv delivered three structures made up of 100 fully equipped prefabricated modules, with the solution integrating Vertiv technologies for critical power, thermal management, monitoring and control – systems designed to work together. This type of modular solution also offers flexibility to the company's business, as it allows MEEZA to increase scalability as customers need.
The new data centers are in perfect harmony with the digital transformation projects of Qatar, which is migrating towards a "smart" economy and supports the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030), which plans to establish itself as a cutting-edge society capable of sustaining its own development and providing a high standard of well-being to its citizens by 2030.
Market-leading Vertiv solutions help customers like MEEZA achieve energy efficiency goals, regardless of whether we are talking about components integrated into a modular solution. For example, the Vertiv™ Liebert uninterruptible power supply (UPS).® EXL S1 provides MEEZA with energy efficiency of up to 99% in Dynamic Online mode. Thanks to the intelligent management function of parallel connections, the UPS is able to optimize efficiency at partial loads, achieving cost savings by minimizing energy losses. Furthermore, the constant management of Vertiv's IMS services for controlling and fine-tuning system settings will allow MEEZA to achieve energy efficiency benefits throughout the entire lifecycle of the devices. Vertiv not only met the time constraints, but also allowed MEEZA to take advantage of the industry's infrastructure and specialists, including resources provided by local partners. Working with Vertiv allowed us to benefit from technical experts both on site and remotely, with engineers working to ensure a design and build tailored to specific business needs, while technicians managed installation and integration, ensuring a smooth start-up and optimal operation.
With the support of Vertiv's customized solution, pre-sales assistance, installation services and after-sales support, MEEZA was able to further optimize and accelerate its go-to-market strategy. The project also led to an increase in revenues and a reduction in installation risks.
Fadi Nasser, Chief Commercial Officer of MEEZA, said: "We are constantly committed to offering cost-effective IT solutions and services to help customers focus on their core business and support them in their growth goals. Partnering with a global leader like Vertiv allows us to take another step towards our goal, as we bring the best of both companies to the top of the Qatar market." Massive business expansions are taking place in the Middle East, so our business model aims to provide optimal, cost-effective, highly efficient and sustainable solutions that are easy to scale, if and when needed. We have been able to grow our business and become the provider of choice for large-scale Internet services, for major telecom operators, ISPs, government agencies, large enterprises and educational institutions across the region and we are optimistic that with the release of the latest M-VAULT, the process of digital acceleration in the country will only go up a notch.”
Pierre Havenga, managing director of Vertiv in the Middle East and Africa, said: "Vertiv has always been at the forefront of digital transformation, innovatively supporting customer goals and we are thrilled to have delivered a new project for MEEZA as a long-term partner and vendor. The next few years will reshape Qatar's digital landscape and we couldn't be more thrilled to have been part of this transformation project together. Our portfolio of solutions and services for power infrastructure, cooling and IT technologies, which extends from the cloud to the edge of the network, will greatly support MEEZA in its vision to digitally revolutionize Qatar and place it on the world stage.”
MEEZA's next goals are to intensify its activities and expand into other countries, as well as provide quality IT services and solutions to all segments of citizens at affordable costs, thus improving the digital experience of the entire region.
