Designed for next-generation AI factories, Vertiv 800 VDC solutions are expected in 2026, supporting industrial-scale NVIDIA compute platforms
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and uninterruptible power solutions, today confirmed that it is on track with NVIDIA's announcement on the roadmap to deploy 800 VDC (Volts of Direct Current) power architectures for the next generation of AI-focused data centers. Vertiv's 800 VDC power solutions portfolio, which sets the direction for future-generation designs, is expected in the second half of 2026, ahead of the launch of the NVIDIA Kyber and NVIDIA Rubin Ultra platforms.
Vertiv aligns with NVIDIA AI's roadmap to stay one step ahead of the evolution of GPUs by enabling customers to adopt power and cooling infrastructure in sync with the next-generation compute platforms offered by NVIDIA. Vertiv offers end-to-end solutions for power, cooling, integrated infrastructure and services to support AI factories and other types of data centers.
As rack power requirements in AI environments exceed the typical 300 kilowatts, 800 VDC technology allows for centralized and more efficient power delivery, reducing the use of copper cables, current and power losses. Vertiv's future product range will include centralized rectifiers, high-efficiency DC busways, rack-level DC-DC converters and DC-compatible backup systems, expanding the broad range of end-to-end power management solutions, which already includes a robust AC power system.
"As GPUs evolve to support increasingly complex giga-watt-scale AI applications, power and cooling manufacturers must be equally innovative to provide high-density, energy-efficient solutions for AI factories. While the 800 VDC portfolio is new, DC power is not new to us, but a continuation of what we've already done at scale," said Scott Armul, executive vice president of global portfolio and business units at Vertiv. "We have spent decades implementing higher-voltage DC architectures for global applications in telecommunications, industry and data centers. We approach this transition from a vantage point and with hands-on experience in meeting the needs of AI factories."
Vertiv's DC power experience spans more than two decades of ±400 VDC deployments, expanded by strategic acquisitions in the early 2000s. These solutions support critical loads in global telecommunications networks, integrated microgrids and mission-critical facilities. Thanks to this experience, Vertiv has established itself as a trusted leader in the design, implementation and safe management of high voltage DC architectures, with proven scalability, portfolio and long-term reliability.
Designed for homogeneous AI environments in hyperscale contexts, Vertiv's 800 VDC portfolio is a key pillar of its “unit of compute” strategy, a system-level design designed to enable all infrastructure components to interoperate as a single, modular and scalable system, capable of meeting the infrastructure needs of next-generation GPUs. Vertiv's support for AC and DC architectures is a strategic differentiator in the evolving AI data center landscape.
