ESET introduces ESET Cyber Security for macOS v7.3 with native support for ARM processor

by Grandangolo Communications / Wednesday, 22 February 2023 / Published in Eset

The new release has been enhanced to ensure maximum security, stability and higher performance for users using Apple devices

ESET, a global leader in the cybersecurity market, today announced the latest release of its popular ESET Cyber Security product line for macOS, designed to provide critical protection for Apple users from modern cyber threats. ESET Cyber Security for macOS v7.3 now has native support for ARM and automatic updates to ensure optimal protection at all times.

In recent years, ARM has become increasingly popular as a chipset due to its ability to increase performance while keeping energy waste to a minimum, so much so that the ARM processor-based mobile computing market has surpassed that of x86-based mobile computing in both revenue and volume.

“We have been working on native support for ARM for some time, to improve protection for customers using Apple devices,” he comments Mária Trnková, vice president of the Consumer and IoT segment at ESET. “The innovations we have made to the architecture underlying ESET Cyber Security for macOS guarantee greater stability and higher performance, making scanning faster and more efficient.”

The new architecture is based on microservices, which means that components run more securely and with optimal performance. This ensures greater stability and resilience, and the solution is also lighter than ever. Microservices are more resource efficient and help preserve battery life. In other words, each component of ESET Cyber Security for macOS starts only when needed and runs for the designated time, after which it automatically turns off, helping to save device resources.

ESET Cyber Security's new automatic update system for macOS guarantees users optimal protection, allowing the solution to find and execute updates as soon as they are released.

The latest release of ESET Cyber Security for macOS also boasts an enhanced multilingual installer that contains 24 different support languages. Upon installation, the language is set based on the system version and the user can later change it using the macOS settings.

The graphical interface (GUI) of ESET Cyber Security for macOS v7.3 has been redesigned and fully supports dark mode in HiDPI, thus saving device resources. Further innovative configurations will be made available during 2023.

ESET Cyber Security for macOS v7.3 includes a number of other award-winning ESET technology components, including:

  1. Anti-Phishing – protects users from malicious HTTP websites that attempt to acquire sensitive information, be it usernames, passwords, banking information or credit card information.
  2. Antivirus e Antispyware – eliminate all types of modern threats, including viruses, worms and spyware.
  3. Multi-platform protection – blocks the spread of malware from macOS to Windows endpoints and vice versa. This prevents a user's macOS from becoming an attack platform for threats targeting Windows.
  4. ESET LiveGrid® technology – whitelisting of safe files based on a file reputation database in the cloud.
  5. Web and email scanning – scan websites while browsing and check all incoming emails for viruses and other threats.

“ESET Cyber Security for macOS v7.3 includes multi-layered real-time protection, anti-phishing, web and email protection that gives Apple users peace of mind when browsing online,” comments Mária Trnková. “Powered by advanced ESET LiveGrid® technology, the solution combines speed, reliability and minimal system impact, freeing up more resources for user tasks.”
