Vertiv™ NetSure™ IPE Series supports rapid deployment of 5G technology in hard-to-reach telco environments
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and uninterruptible power solutions, introduced the new outdoor rectifier Vertiv™ NetSure™ IPE, to facilitate the development of 5G networks and allow operators to increase capacity in areas where data demand is particularly high. The devices, easy to install and available with lithium ion backup battery, help to minimize energy losses when powering radio stations near pylons and roofs, common in this type of applications. NetSure™ IPE R48-2000C2 is already available internationally.
The outdoor rectifier supports telecommunications infrastructure in mobile networks and is ideal for use in edge applications, including 5G small cells, RAN technology, distributed telecommunications networks and areas with high data demand, such as sports halls, stadiums, public transport systems, airports, shopping centers and school buildings.
The high data traffic due to the high concentration of mobile devices in these areas can cause networks to have capacity bottlenecks that are difficult to manage. Next-generation NetSure IPE R48-2000C2 outdoor rectifier technology quickly and reliably powers the radios needed to increase capacity and expand 5G networks. In the event of a grid failure, given the load and power capabilities of the system, modern lightweight, maintenance-free lithium-ion batteries efficiently keep the grid running for an hour or more, operating at higher temperatures and charging more quickly than lead-acid batteries.
“The increase in the volume of data traffic in mobile stations and other high-demand applications such as edge networks, accelerated the need for a reliable, compact and efficient external power solution. Vertiv NetSure IPE offers an excellent DC power system that meets the challenges of these critical environments,” said Henrik Nilen, global director of DC power offerings at Vertiv.
Vertiv™ NetSure™ IPE is characterized by its ease of installation, multiple positioning possibilities and compact dimensions. Furthermore, it does not need to be configured before installation. It can be powered by alternating or direct current, giving users the versatility to use the type of connection best suited to the environment and network. The rectifier complies with IP65 protocol for use in critical outdoor environments and can be equipped with a dedicated lithium-ion backup battery, for quick and easy deployment in public places.
