Cohesity Helped TXT e-Solutions Reduce Backup Time by Over 50%

by Grandangolo Communications / Thursday, 18 May 2023 / Published in Cohesity

Digital transformation pioneer adopts Cohesity DataProtect to modernize data management processes and accelerate backup and disaster recovery operations

Cohesity, leader in innovative data management, today announced that TXT e-Solutions, thanks to the implementation of the Cohesity DataProtect software, has achieved a reduction of more than 50% in backup times, saving up to 25% of the space occupied by the data and up to 25% of the time spent managing data protection processes, resulting in increased efficiency and productivity.

TXT is an ecosystem of digital skills, with a portfolio of proprietary smart solutions and an in-depth range of expertise in vertical domains gained over the years. TXT supports its customers in understanding the business paradigm that the new digital context requires, helping them in the transformation processes. The company is expanding into several markets, with a growing presence in the Aerospace, Aviation, Defense, Industrial, Telco, Government and Fintech sectors. Headquartered in Milan, it operates through over 15 branches in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and the United States.

TXT has to manage the protection of approximately 80TB of data and manages a 10TB year-on-year growth. As a publicly traded company, it cannot afford downtime that directly impacts profits, and with this in mind, the company has faced increasing data management challenges, necessitating a radical change. TXT aimed for a single, modern data management solution that would fit the company's software-defined architecture, requiring a data management solution that spanned a hybrid and hyperscale environment.

TXT has been a Cohesity customer since 2018. At the end of 2021, after transforming its main data center infrastructure into a hyperconverged platform, TXT decided to rely completely on Cohesity for data protection, adopting DataProtect and replacing Veeam, the solution existing legacy. TXT today uses most of the data protection features of the Cohesity Data Cloud platform, which allows it to protect its on-premise and cloud workloads, including collaboration environments such as Microsoft 365. TXT relies on backup and recovery solutions , disaster recovery, files and objects of Cohesity.

The company chose Cohesity solutions to modernize its data management processes and accelerate backup and disaster recovery operations. Compared to the previous legacy solution, with Cohesity TXT it has obtained greater scalability and flexibility and greater ease of administrative management by relying on a single supplier for data management.

The time required to perform a daily backup has been reduced from 32 hours, when the legacy solution was in use, to the current 12 hours, while maintaining the same type and amount of data. A full backup of 48TB of data from the primary data center now takes 12 hours, while an incremental backup of the same infrastructure takes two hours. Recovery times have also been reduced from 72 hours to just three hours. TXT can fully restore a 2TB virtual machine in 50 minutes and find a file among 80TB of data in 60 seconds, saving hours of work every week.

“Cohesity has made our data protection processes measurable, verifiable, predictable and reliable. These features have given us the freedom to choose the performance we want to achieve in our data protection processes. This allows us ample flexibility to scale cloud when we run out of resources during a project and to move resources between cloud and on-prem as availability becomes available,” he said. Azamat Uzhangaliyev, Head of IT di TXT. “The new normal sees us managing large-scale operations with unpredictable workloads due to rapidly changing business scenarios, ever more stringent security requirements, and cloud-native trends that increasingly require best-of-breed approaches to be supported flawless. It is therefore necessary to make operations smart, cost-effective and future-proof.”
