Vertiv™ Liebert® APM2 is a compact uninterruptible power supply, compatible with both lithium-ion and valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, introduced Vertiv™ Liebert® APM2, a new scalable and energy-efficient power solution that expands its range of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Liebert® APM2 is compatible with lithium-ion (Li-ion) and VRLA batteries and boasts a compact design capable of scaling from 30kW to 600 kW in a single unit. The UPS offers significant energy savings compared to less efficient equivalent products and can be used in parallel with up to four other units to increase capacity or redundancy. Liebert APM2 is a CE certified UPS system and is available in 400V configuration in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Latin America and Asia, including India and China.
To meet the growing power consumption needs of edge computing applications and reduce the space waste typical of these environments, Liebert APM2 offers more power in a smaller footprint than similar capacity solutions, as Liebert APM2 models require up to 45% less space than the previous Liebert Vertiv™ UPS® APM. Liebert APM2 can be installed in in-row, in-room, against-the-wall or back-to-back modes for greater application flexibility.
“Vertiv designed the Liebert APM2 in response to the need for a compact, efficient product capable of providing reliable power quality and availability to edge networks,” said Kyle Keeper, senior vice president of global AC power at Vertiv. “This UPS is the most innovative solution offered by Vertiv to manage the growing demands of power infrastructures without having to completely overhaul your system.”
Liebert® APM2 guarantees high energy efficiency in all conditions, up to 97.5% in double conversion mode; up to 98.8% efficiency when operating in Dynamic online mode, which draws energy through the bypass network and uses the inverter for output balancing and as an active filter; and up to 99% when operating in ECO mode, which takes advantage of stable network input conditions to take advantage of the bypass connection. All modes are automated based on user preferences. Liebert APM2's intelligent parallelism feature facilitates load sharing between multiple power modules, even across multiple units. This balances drive runtime and provides automatic failover for increased system availability. Intelligent parallelism has also been shown contributes to energy efficiency.
“Vertiv has made improvements in the Liebert APM2 and other uninterruptible power supplies that drive operational efficiency and can help reduce data center power usage effectiveness (PUE) while maintaining system availability,” said Giovanni Zanei, senior director of AC power global offerings at Vertiv. “In particular, the Dynamic Online functionality, built on a solid global platform presented to the market in 2018, improves the already considerable efficiency of the UPS and has been implemented by customers attentive to energy consumption and reliability, including many colocation service providers.”
Modular architecture The Liebert APM2 features easy front-side access to replaceable components and features hot-swappable structural units that optimize the mean time to repair (MTTR) to less than 30 minutes. Vertiv™ Life™ Services is one of the options available to remotely monitor and diagnose equipment status, with reporting to monitor UPS performance
