The company will collaborate with the Science Based Targets project to reduce its CO₂ emissions by 90% by 2050
Nexthink, a leader in digital employee experience management (DEX) software solutions, announced that it has signed a declaration of commitment as part of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to achieve the Net-Zero Standard by 2050. The company aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by at least 42% by 2030 and 90% by 2050. Nexthink's goals are to meet the standards set by the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels – and it will work with SBTi to pursue this strategy.
“60% of all IT emissions in the company are due to end-user computing and we believe that our commitment to Net-Zero should lead to an increase in initiatives by companies in the sector to improve sustainability – he declared Donatella Derosa Enterprise Account Manager of Nexthink in Italy – Our customers, partners, shareholders and employees demand it and there is no more important goal than creating a better, greener future for the planet.”
Nexthink's Net-Zero commitment is the result of continuous investments made in terms of environmental sustainability. Since 2021, the company has been monitoring its CO₂ emissions across all operations and has taken measures to reduce emissions and energy consumption internally. As part of this initiative, Nexthink is committed to:
- Reduce the impact of CO₂ emissions of cloud servers used by up to 50% per hour by 2030 by selecting low energy consumption units and optimizing their use.
- Work on your IT assets to improve device longevity and reduce the per-unit impact of IT devices by up to 20% by 2030.
- Implement a company-wide energy efficiency plan that includes improving the level of soundproofing of offices and drastically reducing the dispersion of air conditioning gases.
- Change the company travel policy to reduce CO₂ emissions linked to professional travel and commuting.
Additionally, earlier this year Nexthink announced enhancements to its Sustainable IT solution, which aim to provide crucial insights to help customers integrate sustainability at the heart of their IT strategies. Nexthink was also awarded, for the second consecutive year, with the EcoVadis Silver Medal and was ranked among the top companies in the software sector, which represent 8% of the market.
SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi call to action is one of the commitments of the We Mean Business Coalition and aims to promote ambitious environmental action in the private sector, enabling companies to set science-based CO₂ reduction targets.
