69% of senior IT managers agree that the development of remote working has made their work more difficult and complex
The company was ranked among the top two industry leaders based on 7 November 2023 – Nexthink, a leader in employee digital experience management (DEX) software solutions, presented the results of the new report “State of the DEXThe study reports that 69% of senior decision makers (ITDMs) believe the growth of remote work has made their jobs more difficult and complex. What makes this more concerning is that employees today are less likely to report technology issues they notice (44%) than they were four years ago (55%).
Respondents report an average of one IT issue per week and an average resolution time of up to 27 minutes, demonstrating that there is an industry-wide issue that requires a solution.
“Workers today are almost entirely dependent on technology for their daily tasks, so the digital employee experience must be a priority for every company,” he said Donatella Derosa, Nexthink Enterprise Account Manager for Italy. "We've had four years to implement solutions that integrate digital work, train employees to better leverage technologies, and put Digital Employee Experience at the forefront of business. The report's findings highlight areas of industry growth that require immediate attention, before companies lose further ground."
The good news is that the importance of DEX has grown since the pandemic and today 90% of senior ITDM managers believe that a good DEX strategy is crucial to their work. However, only 24% of employees consider themselves satisfied with the DEX strategy adopted in the company.
Technology issues don't just affect individual employees, they have a significant impact on the organization as a whole, as other key data indicates:
- IT teams spend nearly half of their time (45%) each week fixing recurring issues.
- The same amount of time (43%) is needed to restore devices to the desired state.
- According to 69% of ITDMs, a lack of attention to technology contributes to a negative employee experience, with direct consequences on the quality of work, morale, customer relationships and the reputation of the IT department.
- 73% of ITDMs agree that failure to report IT problems to the relevant department leads to more serious problems arising throughout the organization.
The report was produced in collaboration with Vanson Bourne, who interviewed 1,000 senior IT decision makers and 1,000 corporate employees during the summer of 2023. Where appropriate, data was compared to similar questions in Nexthink's 2019 survey: The Experience 2020.
