Over 1,000 new manufacturing jobs have been added since Vertiv acquired E+I Engineering in November 2021
Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, said it has increased its manufacturing capabilities for switchgear, busway and integrated modular solutions (IMS) by more than 100% after taking over operations in November 2021. E&I Engineering e PowerBar Gulf, and plans to double those capacities with further expansions by the end of 2025.
The expansion plans enable Vertiv to support current commitments and accelerating demand for data center power infrastructure, particularly for colocation and hyperscale sites, including artificial intelligence and high-performance computing applications.
In the two years following the acquisition of E&I Engineering and PowerBar Gulf, Vertiv expanded its global production of switchgear, busbar and modular power solutions, opening new factories and increasing production at existing ones, resulting in more than 1,000 additional jobs available in 2023.
With expansion efforts already underway, Vertiv expects to be able to more than double its production capacity for switchgears, busbars and modular solutions within the next two years.
“When we acquired the switchgear and busway business to complete our end-to-end power management portfolio for data centers and other critical commercial and industrial applications, we anticipated that this product portfolio would enable us to deliver greater value and superior solutions to our customers,” said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. "With the dramatic growth in data traffic volume, enhanced by the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence, current demand is exceeding the projections we made during the E&I acquisition. Vertiv is responding to this acceleration in demand by investing in manufacturing units in key areas and locations, scaling up operations around the world and flexibly responding to future energy management demand."
Albertazzi also noted that the growth of AI and other high-performance computing systems is driving demand for capacity and innovation across the company's entire portfolio of offerings, including power management, thermal management and prefabricated modular solutions. “Investing in increased capabilities across global regions is aligned with our strategy to enable industry growth and build a resilient supply chain,” concluded Albertazzi.
The expansion of its production capabilities for switchgear, busbar and integrated modular solutions, through increased utilization and expansion of the production area, is underway in South Carolina (United States), Mexico, Slovakia, United Arab Emirates, Ireland and Northern Ireland.
