The Vertiv™ PowerBar Track's double stack configuration offers flexible overhead electrical distribution for modern computing environments
Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, announced its expansion of its busway family Vertiv™ PowerBar Track with the introduction of a compact, high-capacity double stack design, enabling greater power density while optimizing precious white space. Designed to respond to rapidly evolving AI workloads in colocation and hyperscale data centers, the scalable system offers high-capacity electrical distribution via a flexible, modular architecture that supports future growth, improves energy efficiency and simplifies deployment. The solution is designed to meet rigorous global safety and performance standards, with configurations up to 2000A per UL 857 standard and up to 2500A per IEC 61439-6, with variants in copper and aluminum conductors.
Vertiv PowerBar Track enables safe, continuous power delivery and active system configuration changes without downtime. Its open track architecture allows operators to install or move tap-off boxes to any point along the busway while keeping load distribution active. Each connection point includes integrated mechanical and electrical interlocks for operator safety, while optional integrated metering provides real-time visibility into energy consumption to improve capacity planning and energy management. The double stack configuration supports higher capacities and more connections for each tap-off box and can also scale vertically to efficiently serve high-density environments.
“The power distribution system must address the scalability and density issues of modern AI and high-performance computing environments,” said Kyle Keeper, senior vice president of the power business unit at Vertiv. "Customers demand flexible solutions as they face increasing power demands, increasingly stringent space constraints and rapidly evolving infrastructure requirements. Vertiv PowerBar Track double stack is designed to overcome these challenges by enabling compact yet scalable expansion, supporting hot modifications and ensuring the reliability required in mission-critical data center environments."
The busway system integrates seamlessly with the entire Vertiv power chain, including Vertiv™ PowerBoard panels, uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and racks, creating a complete and coordinated infrastructure for high-density applications. Supported by Vertiv's global manufacturing and service network, Vertiv™ PowerBar Track can be configured for easy maintenance, helping to reduce service-related downtime and enabling faster deployment and greater adaptability for rapidly expanding data centers. Vertiv PowerBar Track also contributes to the power ecosystem Vertiv™ 360AI, which combines energy distribution, protection and management technologies designed to support the next generation of AI-ready digital infrastructure.
Vertiv PowerBar Track integrates with Vertiv™ OneCore, a prefabricated and scalable infrastructure solution for data centers, and with Vertiv™ SmartRun, a modular overhead IT infrastructure system, enabling a consistent approach to modular and scalable data center design.
