New facility strengthens regional manufacturing, supply chain resilience and deployment capabilities for integrated power, cooling and infrastructure solutions
Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, announced the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia, expanding its manufacturing footprint to support the growing demand for artificial intelligence and high-density computing infrastructure across Asia, including Southeast Asia, East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Strategically located in one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing industrial markets, the facility enhances Vertiv's ability to support customers across regional manufacturing, engineering, logistics and implementation activities. The site also benefits from excellent regional connectivity and proximity to key technology hubs and customers in the area.
"Asia continues to be one of the fastest growing regions for investment in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. The expansion of our manufacturing footprint in Malaysia aims to further strengthen our capabilities to support customers in terms of quality, speed, scalability and resilience," said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. “This facility represents another important step in our ongoing capacity planning and deployment strategy as we continue to expand our manufacturing capabilities regionally and globally.”
Albertazzi added: "As computing needs evolve across different generations of AI infrastructure, customers need partners who can provide large-scale power, cooling and infrastructure solutions. The Johor facility strengthens our ability to help customers deploy critical digital infrastructure more efficiently, while supporting long-term growth in Asia."
Manufacturing and testing facilities
The Johor facility supports the entire manufacturing, assembly and full-scale witness testing process for advanced thermal management and power supply infrastructures. This enables Vertiv to deliver high-density solutions with validated performance, helping reduce deployment risks and accelerate uptime for enterprise, cloud and colocation customers.
- The facility is expected to create hundreds of skilled jobs in the region once it is fully operational in 2027.
- Manufacturing capabilities dedicated to large-scale thermal, power and infrastructure management solutions for AI and traditional applications: Vertiv™ CoolChip Refrigerant Distribution Units (CDUs) support liquid cooling applications, including direct-to-chip systems and heat exchangers installed on the rear doors of high-density racks; Vertiv™ Power Module and Vertiv™ Power Skid are prefabricated solutions for electricity supply with integrated modular infrastructures, capable of accelerating the implementation of power systems by up to 50% compared to traditional constructions; Vertiv™ SmartRun prefabricated integrated overhead infrastructure system, offers a complete solution for the set-up of data rooms (“white space”), including high-density electrical conduits, liquid cooling pipes, networking and containment systems, reducing on-site installation times by up to 85% compared to traditional methods.
- Dedicated test environment designed to validate liquid cooling solutions and integrated power systems under the same operating conditions as customer sites prior to commissioning, including testing of CDUs across the full range of available capacities and simultaneous testing of multiple modules and power skids.
