New investments will further enhance the testing capabilities for UPS Vertiv of international clients
Vertiv, a global provider of solutions that ensure business continuity for critical infrastructures, has started activities for the expansion of the innovative Customer Experience Center of Bologna. The expansion plan includes the inclusion of a new 4MVA power infrastructure to support test capabilities, flexibility and efficiency. These enhancements help address the needs of larger data centers and industrial facilities, and the growing demand from customers to extend pre-tests offsite to accelerate their site deployments.
As a leading provider of hardware, software solutions, diagnostics and monitoring services to ensure data center operational continuity, Vertiv counts 70% of the Fortune 500 companies among its customers. The Customer Experience Center offers these companies the opportunity to witness from a privileged position pre-installation demonstrations that illustrate the technical performance, interoperability and performance of the infrastructure to protect critical data.
Planned improvements to the Customer Experience Center will double the testing capacity currently available for large uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), offering up to 7.5MVA of power and the ability to host six simultaneous sessions. The facility is already capable of performing capacity test using regenerative loads with a power-loop principle which allows approximately 96% of the energy to be reused and thus avoid unnecessary energy waste. More efficient and in-depth testing, including dynamic battery testing, a sophisticated DC circuit simulator to replicate any battery type and the ability to test 480V systems are additional benefits of the planned expansion.
This planned investment comes six years after the opening of the Customer Experience Center. At the time of opening, it was the only facility in Europe specifically designed for the validation of data center infrastructure, where customers could carry out pre-installation demonstrations with clear evidence of the technical performance, interoperability and throughput of Vertiv UPS systems under realistic conditions. To this day, the facility allows Vertiv customers to personally experience numerous technologies with the constant support of Vertiv R&D experts and engineers.
Andrea Ferro, AC Power Division Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Vertiv, said: "The center was cutting-edge when it opened its doors six years ago and continues to drive innovation today. This further investment is testament to Vertiv's ongoing commitment to our ever-growing customers, as it will allow us to conduct multiple tests at the same time. The unique opportunity to verify first-hand the reliability and effectiveness of Vertiv products under a range of realistic conditions translates into greater peace of mind for our customersJean Pierre Abbadia, Regional Director South EMEA di Arrow
The facility's expansion phases are expected to be completed by 2021, with the first phase in early 2020. For more information on Vertiv's AC Power products and Customer Experience Centers, please visit Vertiv.it
