Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today introduced Vertiv™ VRC-S, a fully factory-assembled micro data center designed for edge installations and other small IT sites. Available in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Vertiv VRC-S incorporates a rack power distribution unit (rPDU), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) into a highly efficient all-in-one IT rack Vertiv™ Liebert® GXT5 Energy Star 2.0 certified, sensors and monitoring software and the rack cooling system Vertiv™ VRC.

Ideal for edge installations in industries such as retail, transportation, healthcare and light industrial applications, Vertiv VRC-S is available in a number of pre-defined standard models that can be delivered in days and installed in hours. The Vertiv VRC-S micro data center can be experienced virtually with Vertiv XR, the new mobile application based on augmented reality (AR) that allows users to undertake an immersive exploration of all the components of the unit and which also shows the operating modes and the most hidden features, invisible to the naked eye, but with cutting-edge end-to-end functionality. Micro data centers are designed to support edge computing applications wherever small computing resources are needed. Unlike prefabricated modular data centers that are typically larger, self-contained installations placed outside main buildings or in remote locations, micro data centers – which are the size of a standard rack – can be installed in environments such as offices, clinics, retail stores or other commercial or industrial spaces. The Vertiv™ VRC-S construction uses a unique hot/cold aisle within the rack for efficient airflow that prevents overheating. The Vertiv VRC-S cooling unit is designed specifically for IT Edge loads. Using variable speed fans and a variable speed compressor, the unit adapts the cooling capacity to the actual IT heat dissipation, thus minimizing energy consumption. The high-efficiency double-conversion Vertiv™ Liebert ® GXT5 online UPS provides uninterrupted power to all integrated components, including the 3.5 kW cooling system and backup ventilation system. Vertiv™ Geist™ rPDU provides outlet-level switching power distribution and includes Vertiv™ Intelligence Director software to remotely monitor and manage your entire power and cooling system through a single IP address. This simplifies remote monitoring, control and predictive maintenance.
