Ivanti Velocity and Ivanti Speakeasy allowed Weber to meet customer expectations with reduced operating costs, despite increased demand during the pandemic

Ivanti Wavelink, Ivanti's supply chain solutions business unit, announces the implementation of the solutions Ivanti Velocity and Ivanti Speakeasy enabled Weber to meet customer expectations with reduced operating costs e Ivanti Velocity and Ivanti Speakeasy enabled Weber to meet customer expectations with reduced operating costs in Weber, a leading company in the domestic grilling market, to address supply chain challenges, optimize warehouse processes and obtain advantages in terms of productivity and safety. Although the organization's activities were already supported by technology, recent investments in Ivanti Wavelink solutions have improved workflows and reduced training times.

Before the pandemic, Weber's team in Australia had been using mobile computing technology to manage daily warehouse tasks, such as stocking products and picking up orders. Despite this setup, some critical issues remained, including the high number of clicks required to process a transaction. This led to productivity and safety issues caused by employees spending excessive time on devices, preventing them from collecting goods safely. Working in a Weber warehouse involves handling bulky items, requiring a certain flexibility in the worker's movements. In addition, due to an unsupported operating system, the rugged mobile devices used were reaching the end of their life cycle. The arrival of the pandemic further aggravated this situation, presenting a further problem at the beginning of 2020. In fact, the lockdown changed Weber's business model, offering free shipping for online orders, thus increasing sales and the consequent pressure on the warehouse.

To solve these new challenges, Weber worked with its mobile device supplier to replace existing solutions with Honeywell CT40 devices running the Android operating system. Using Ivanti Velocity, Weber then migrated and updated its green screen-based applications to a modern, touch-enabled layout on Android, without having to write a line of code. This allowed the company to adopt the new devices within the warehouse in a few days, immediately optimizing processes with more intuitive applications.

With the new applications active in Ivanti Velocity, Weber decided to integrate the Ivanti Speakeasy voice solution into its processes, eliminating the physical interaction of staff with their devices. This transition occurred in just two weeks after the adoption of the new mobile devices, a result that has not yet been achieved by other vendors. To date, warehouse staff can rely on voice commands and recognition, safeguarding their mobility. The implementation of this solution relieved managers of constant worries, significantly increasing the increase in productivity.

“The move to voice-based processes in the company's warehouse has had a significant impact,” he said Terry Garner, Weber Logistics Manager for Australia and New Zealand. "We saw a 12-second reduction in the time it took to pick an item. This saves 20 minutes for every 100 items picked, generating a significant increase in productivity, especially considering that Weber Australia picks around 600 items a day. With the new voice solution, we saved two hours a day, increasing productivity and meeting customer expectations despite the dramatic increase in demand."

Garner continued: "This solution makes staff more productive and more protected, while managers can enjoy better visibility and precision into warehouse movements. Additionally, through more intuitive applications, the company can hire new warehouse staff. All of this allows Weber to meet its customers' expectations, even in the face of increased demand."

Overall, Ivanti Velocity and Ivanti Speakeasy have enabled Weber's operations in Australia to meet customer expectations even during the pandemic period, containing operating costs and preparing for new work scenarios. Recently, Weber expanded its warehouse in Australia from 600m2 to 2500m2. The adoption of Ivanti Speakeasy also effectively supported this change by enabling further process improvements through the Ivanti Velocity framework.

“We are proud that Weber has chosen our Ivanti Wavelink solutions to speed up warehouse operations and increase productivity,” said Brandon Black, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Ivanti Wavelink. "The implementation of our technologies occurred very quickly, allowing Weber to quickly realize ROI and keep pace with increasing demand. We are excited to continue to support Weber in their warehouse processes through the power of Ivanti Speakeasy, unlocking productivity through Velocity."
