EnergyCore Vertiv™ battery cabinets save space with internally integrated elements and pair perfectly with large and medium-sized Vertiv™ uninterruptible power supplies
To address the pressing need for solutions that support high-density computing in increasingly congested data center infrastructures, Vertiv, (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, introduced Vertiv™ EnergyCore battery cabinets. Factory assembled with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery modules and Vertiv's internally powered battery management system, Vertiv EnergyCore cabinets are available globally and are compatible with most newer and legacy Vertiv™ three-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), including the Vertiv™ Trinergy™ just presented to the market.
Vertiv's EnergyCore battery cabinets are optimized for a five-minute runtime at end-of-life at 263kWb per compact 24" (600mm) wide cabinet and operate over a wide temperature range, making them suitable for high-density environments. Lithium batteries are more compact and lightweight than alternative VRLA solutions, allowing users to install fewer battery cabinets in most applications. The presence of a two-hole internal swivel eliminates need for a junction box and the cabinet does not require external control wiring on site, thus reducing installation time and costs compared to traditional on-site assembly. Cabinets are equipped with Vertiv's intuitive interactive touch screen display, which provides visibility and control of the cabinet, operating system and installed batteries.
The integrated battery management system is powered by Vertiv EnergyCore batteries, eliminating the need for an external power source and simplifying installation. It provides a closed-loop data memory that tracks battery charge-discharge cycle performance, maintenance interventions, and allows you to obtain accurate reports on its operation that can be used for warranty assistance and predictive analysis. Remote battery monitoring is available via Vertiv™ Alber™ Battery Xplorer Enterprise.
“The diffusion of artificial intelligence and other high-performance computing applications is driving the need to deliver more power into smaller, hotter spaces," said Milind Paranjape, vice president of energy storage at Vertiv. With our Vertiv EnergyCore battery cabinets, we are providing exactly what customers and our industry need: a compact, high-power-density energy storage space that can operate safely and optimally." Simply put, these battery cabinets are designed for the new mission-critical demands of high-density computing environments.”
The modular design of the Vertiv™ Trinergy™ system allows you to connect any UPS with Vertiv™ EnergyCore battery cabinets in a distributed architecture, enabling uninterrupted service for critical applications. Thanks to the power density of the Vertiv EnergyCore design, only two lithium-ion battery cabinets are needed to support each 500 kW Trinergy™ UPS, compared to the three cabinets required by most manufacturers.
Vertiv EnergyCore is listed to UL 1973 and has been successfully tested for compliance with UL 9540A for protection against thermal fire spread in battery energy storage systems; According to NFPA 855 ESS installation standards, the 36-inch (92 cm) spacing requirements between racks may be waived by applicable authorities. This way you can save space and speed up installation.
