ESET V&PM is now also available for Linux systems (desktop and server) and macOS
ESET, a global European leader in the cybersecurity market, has announced the release of a major update to the ESET Vulnerability and Patch Management (V&PM) module.
For organizations, it is critically important to minimize the attack surface. With thousands of vulnerabilities discovered every quarter, the threat landscape is constantly evolving. A single vulnerability can stop a company or even an entire supply chain. To prevent this risk, vulnerability and patch management is an extraordinary tool, as it ensures adequate cyber hygiene and at the same time helps to establish a proactive security posture, preventing incidents before they occur.
ESET understands that threat actors are continually targeting an ever-broader spectrum of devices, systems and software. With the new update, ESET V&PM also extends support to Linux1 (desktop e server) e macOS2, thus ensuring coverage to a wider part of the business ecosystem.
The V&PM module is presented in a new, improved and easy-to-use dashboard that provides greater visibility and transparency, and provides an immediate overview of the status of vulnerabilities and patching on a network.
At the same time, thanks to the seamless integration of ESET V&PM within the ESET PROTECT platform, the module now supports on-demand vulnerability scanning, allowing an instant view of the status of specific machines.
While vulnerability scanning is fully automated by default to save time and close the gap to attacks, for Windows and Linux servers the product also allows manual control for administrators. This feature is especially useful for security administrators as it allows them to oversee scanning and patching processes without disrupting business workflows.
"We believe that high-level security should not be unnecessarily complex, as this would make security workflows too time-consuming – time that could be spent on more important tasks. With this new update to the ESET V&PM module, we take this into account, focusing on what matters: speed, ease of use, compliance3 and proactive prevention. Threats don't sleep and, thanks to the always-on function, neither does our solution, which constantly keeps companies' security under control,” said Michal Jankech, Vice President, Enterprise & SMB/MSP at ESET.
The ESET Vulnerability and Patch Management module is available in the following solutions: ESET PROTECT Complete, ESET PROTECT Elite, ESET PROTECT MDR and ESET PROTECT MDR Ultimate. With the latest update, customers can also order ESET V&PM as an add-on for ESET PROTECT Entry and ESET PROTECT Advanced, increasing business security from small to large enterprises. As always, the update will be distributed automatically at no additional cost.
1 We recommend checking compatibility with desktop Linux on the ESET website.
2 Patch management of Linux, as well as scanning and remediation of operating system vulnerabilities in macOS, is included in the roadmap.
3 Regulations such as NIS2 in the European Union require transparent vulnerability management for compliance.
