The investment increases chiller production, testing resources and professional development opportunities at the site
Tognana di Piove di Sacco [July 21, 2026] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, announces new investments to expand chiller manufacturing capabilities and integrated testing activities at its Tognana di Piove di Sacco site, near Padua. The company plans to double chiller manufacturing capabilities in the area by the end of 2026 and complete a new laboratory to test large-capacity chillers in early 2027. The site's growth is also generating new professional opportunities on campus. The facility is one of Vertiv's main hubs dedicated to the development of cooling technologies and integrates research and development activities, product management, manufacturing and a Customer Experience Center, where customers and consultants can witness testing of a wide range of cooling technologies along the entire cooling chain, under real-world operating conditions.
With growing demand for cooling systems capable of supporting high-density AI applications, Vertiv is scaling up manufacturing operations and introducing new manufacturing processes at the Tognana site, to support regional and global chiller manufacturing capabilities. The company is also investing in a new integrated testing laboratory for large-capacity chillers to validate their integration with liquid cooling systems under high-density load conditions and across a wide range of extreme temperatures. The expanded capabilities will allow customers to verify the effectiveness of cooling under expected operating conditions and implement increasingly complex solutions with greater speed and safety.
“AI is introducing cooling needs that didn't exist two years ago, with increasingly higher densities, faster deployment times and no room for compromise on reliability,” said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. "The expansion of Tognana allows us to further enhance our leadership through increased manufacturing capacity, integrated testing operations and advanced cooling technologies designed for current and future generations of chips. This investment solidifies our ability to drive industry innovation."
As part of the growth and increase in production activities, numerous positions are currently open at the Tognana headquarters, including brazers, senior and junior testers, assemblers and production team managers as well as other professional profiles. To support recruiting, Vertiv has planned an event Walk-in Interview on July 23rd at 6.00 pm at SeDici – Caffè Cucina Eventi in Arzergrande, offering candidates the opportunity to get to know the company and learn more about the positions currently open.
Vertiv has been present on the Tognana site since the 1960s, collecting the legacy of historic brands such as Vertiv™ Liebert® e Hiross™, pioneers in the precision cooling sector. Today the campus represents one of Vertiv's main European hubs for data center cooling, integrating innovation, manufacturing, testing and direct customer experience. Together with the Castel Guelfo plant, near Bologna, it constitutes one of the company's main European technological hubs. The Bologna and Tognana offices also host the Vertiv Academy, which offers training programs dedicated to technicians, partners and professionals in the sector. Both are part of a global network of 30 training centers and academies, of which 15 are located in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
“The skills of our Tognana teams are key to enabling Vertiv to respond to increasingly complex cooling challenges,” said Sam Bainborough, vice president, thermal business at Vertiv in EMEA. “Through expanded manufacturing capabilities, integrated testing activities and local expertise, the campus strengthens its strategic role in supporting customers across EMEA and global markets, while contributing to the creation of skilled employment in the region.”
